Boat Info
1998 310DA / Vintage 1976 StarCraft Montego.
Engines
5.7 Mercruiser 260HP v drives
I just purchase a new to me 1998 310 with V drives.
Would like to hear from some with the same boat on what I can and should expect concerning RPM's, Speed and performance.

I would also like to hear about any problems common to this model.
Have you made any mods that I should consider?
It is going to be a long winter, I would like to hear your input if there are things that I should address other than normal maintance and cleaning.

Thanks in advance,
Bob

Several of us have this model on the site. You will likely have better luck posting in the Official 1998-2002 310 thread for specific info.

My boat has IO drives and same engines. I can imagine it is real tight in the engine room with V drives.

Only updates I have done are a new stereo with helm remote, canvas, and 2 new engines

+1 on the specific thread. We have the '98 310 DA with I/O's.... Our first boat. We love it! We've had her since August...

I've heard some complaints on this size boat, with that motor and the v-drive. But no first hand experience...

This winter's upgrades include a new fridge, ice maker and new radar/chart plotter....

Mike, Thank you! I will try to figure out how to move the post.

Was the fridge bad or are you just updating?

Need more cold storage. Original is like 1.8 cubic foot, the new one will be over 3.... The one I have is the original Norcold, still works great.

I have the V drives on my 2002 310 DA. Incredible maneuverability and easy to maintain. We give up a little on the performance side and higher speed fuel efficiency and the actual WOT speed. All around a better option if you will be in the water.
Enjoy it!!!
