1998 44’ Sundancer

I found (30) 97-03 400/410's for sale on boattrader during my lunch hour today. I dropped the highest priced ($199k, which seems absurd) and the lowest priced ($75k, probably doesn't float) which leaves us with 28 of these vessels currently available on boattrader.

The split is 17 diesel, 11 gas. Of course asking price means very little but I was actually a bit surprised by the results. With my freshwater gas 400...I'm practically sitting on a unicorn right now :):)

I know listening is very different that sold price but I’m glad we love our boat so much - based on that list a 2002 410 diesel with a 100% freshwater looks like she’s get quite a premium. :)

there’s a reason I stopped looking at the boat market shortly after we bought ours

I looked @ 400's for 6 months and then I expanded my search to the 450DA and I have loved my 16+ years of ownership. My CATs 3126 have been flawless and my Westerbeke was until last month when I lost the head gasket $5k later and it's all good.

Any idea on the cause of the head gasket failure?

I know the head is supposed to be retorted occasionallly, but access is always an issue.

No apparent cause, the mechanic said it's 25 years old and it happens...
