1998 SR 290 SUNDANCER - KOHLER GENERATOR DOESN'T START

It has always started in a few seconds of pushing the start switch in. I try to start it 2-3times a month even if I'm just at the dock. Now it just turns over, as always, but doesn't start.
It's as though it is not getting any gas.
Is there a separate fuel filter for this? Hopefully a clogged filter is the cause.
Any other ideas?

Yes there is a fuel/water filter on the same wall the fresh water pump is mounted to.

First, verify it is a fuel problem by giving it a shot of starting fluid during cranking. If it fires then yes there is a fuel supply problem which could be a fuel pump, a sensor like the oil pressure sensor, a carb or filter. Keep in mind the problem could be a combination of those.
If the genny does not fire then check for spark… possibly plugs, wires or coil.
