1999 400 sundancer actual length

13 years ago I had a big surprise with the slip I was looking at for our new to us 450... I didn't do the research and assumed it was a 45'... Nope !!! Like FW said we are a hair under 51' and with the dinghy hanging off the davits it's 57'. We are in a 60' boathouse with very little room to spare.

Yeah I was being generous with the tape along side the boat. But, it came to 47' tip of the anchor to the edge of the swim platform. Again not super accurate but best I could do by myself in a rush. I requested 50' of dock to be on the safe side so we will see.

as a side note, I thought the thing the anchor hung off was called a bow pulpit, if not whats it called? new to this whole cruiser game lol

Several names possible. Bow sprit, pulpit, anchor chute. Thingy, doohickey, whatchamacallit.

Lot's of names get thrown around this industry, that's for sure!

The SS piece is an anchor roller. A bow pulpit is a fixed piece sometimes used to extend the anchor roller further off the bow. Pulpits are typically either a plank of wood or a fiberglass piece (either bolted onto the bow or formed into the mold of the deck).

And then you get into things like Brad mentioned - an anchor chute - which is usually another SS piece, but this would be installed into a pulpit (or sometimes through the bow of the boat). And there's more, still... Lot's of doohickeys!

When you get a few minutes, go the Tech Articles sub-forum. There's a thread there that people have been contributing to with common terms and abbreviations used in the industry, with some being specific to Sea Ray.

You've measured?
@RollerCoastr Yes. I couldn't measure perfectly because my bow is over a swim platform of another boat in storage, but the specs seem to be on the mark. My anchor protrudes about another foot beyond the bow, but you can decide whether you want to consider that as part of the length of the boat. I didnt count it.

My 1997 400 Sundancer is in a 40’ slip. I tie as close to the dock as possible and I’m sticking out at LEAST 6’ past the finger. I don’t have an exact measurement, but I’d be shocked if it’s under 46’ LOA. Our well is also 18’ wide and rough estimate is 2’ on each side when she’s centered. So I think the 13’10” is going to be very close.
