2002’ 240 Sun Deck - Trim Tabs blowing fuse & Horn won’t shut off!!

Hi all,

Having some problems with our trim tabs blowing a 15amp fuse located on top of theengine block. Motor shuts down and complete loss of power. It blows it if youhold one trim tab button too long or if you hold both tabs (same direction). Last time this happened I replaced the fuse and now the horn is going off. I’ve pulled the horn fuse and disconnected the control panel that has the horn button on it, put the fuse back in and the horn is still going off.Worried I might have smoked something in the EMI module? Any thoughts on what’s causing tabs to blow this fuse and what’s going on with my horn?

For what it's worth the Trim Tabs should be fused at 20 amps.

And... the fuse isn't normally located on top of the engine. From what you've posted, it sounds like someone has done some "experimental wiring". This may be very hard, if not impossible, for us to help with via a forum. You kinda need to be there. I suggest you take it to a reputable shop. But... in addition to DIY wiring, there may be corrosion and lose/dirty connections - possibly corrosion wicked underneath the sheathing - at play here, as well.
