I'm looking at a 2002 260 DA and I'm curious about how much room it really has for hanging out at the slip or on the hook with 4 people on board. I've usually been more drawn to the older boats because they have such open cockpits. We're looking at some older boats to but I'd like to explore the option of a newer boat...somehow believing not having to restore AND maintain will be cheaper...although nothing is cheap about boating so it's all relative. Anyway, any input would be appreciated with any other issues to watch for too.

thanks!

I own a younger 260 and 4 people on board sounds just right

I like ours.
For 4 adults it's cozy for sure. A weekend max, but we have twin 12 year olds and it's perfect for us and longer trips. Either way whether it's hanging at the dock or on the hook, it works great.

Thanks for the input folks. We went and looked at 2 260's today. A 2006 and a 2008. The broker is asking what is crazy money for both but we wanted to see the layout. We really liked the boat, both had 350 mag/BIII setups with generators. My wife was concerned about the aft cabin even though we just have the two young girls. It doesn't help that we've been looking at an older 350 Dancer. Two completely different boats!

I have an '06 260DA and have had a great time overnighting with our two kids and hanging at the dock. We go on overnights from time to time and there's plenty of room. One of our kids has to sleep up in the cockpit on the floor, though (kids can sleep anywhere). As for cruising, I like that the single engine burns a lot less gas than larger 2-engine boats and I figure that one well maintained engine and a Sea Tow membership is just as good as two engines (IMO).

Wife and I took delivery of a 2006 260DA about a month and a half ago. Our original plan was to use the aft cabin for sleeping. That lasted about 4 hours the first night. We have since took advice from this thread and purchased a 3" memory foam mattress for the V birth. Everything is great now. I hate taking up the room in the cabin, but it makes for a great night's sleep. I am 6'4" and fit much better there. We had in laws aboard over the 4th for the day and they had a motel for nights. 4 adults for a full weekend would be too much in my opinion.

I think we're going to go bigger when we do step up. But we've been enjoying our current boat so much I think we're going to keep it for now. Thanks again for the great input!
