Could somebody please tell me how in the world to get to the strainer to clean it? It is forward of the transmissions. Pretty tight space to say the least. Laughing just thinking about why such an easy task was put where it is.

I actually close my sea cocks from the top of the motors. I take a pillow and place it between my 454's and pull both strainers and hand them to someone to clean. If I have to do it myself I only need to get inside the boat engine one time.
Mine is a 2000 so it may be a little different but yes it is extremely tight. I am 5'10" and 200 lbs. If you are bigger than that take a small friend boating with you... lol

The strainers for the motors and genny are no problem. I have the 8.1s and im 6'3 so yeah its a little tight in the engine room in general but its just that AC strainer thats a complete joke. Also getting to the 2 batterys forward are a task. Engine access to all the accessory stuff like oil coolers etc isnt that bad if you remover all the ehaust hoses and slide the water lift mufflers forward.
