I have a 2004 220 Select with dual batteries and a battery switch. At the beginning of this season battery 1 was dead so I replaced it with a new battery. Now the new battery is dead. The new dead battery was able to charge back up by running with the switch on "both" position. Then after a week or so the battery drained again. Anyone ever have a similar problem/solution?

Stereo memory is one possibility, the other is a water leak. Do you notice any water being pumped out when your on the boat? Or excessive water in the bilge?

Usually stereo memory won't drain a new battery down. Also make sure you're not leaving any lights on. Do you turn your battery switch off when you leave the boat? You should... that eliminates the lights.

Good luck and welcome to CSR!

A friend mentioned the stereo memory. I always turn the battery switch off. Someone mentioned a stuck or old automatic bilge float switch. Thanks for the response. I'll keep you posted with what I find. I may have to take it in to a repair shop.

Stereo memory definitely won't do it. It uses a miniscule amount of power. Under normal circumstances, you should have no problems going a month and still having plenty of power to start it up.

Start by fully charging your battery (charges best when the switch is set specifically to that battery). Then get it load tested. Doesn't matter how new it is - get it load tested.

What charging voltage (directly at the battery) do you have when running the engine and the batt switch set to that battery?

Do an amp draw test. Report back with your numbers.

If the float switch is stuck on, you should hear the pump running.

You've got a pretty simple system - the only things that are wired direct to the battery are the memory, ECM and float switch. Everything else is after the battery switch.

I would try this simple test. I also have A 220 select and there isnt much wired hot. Radio and bilge pump for sure. If you can perform this test you would narrow down the draw

You might also try switching the batteries and determine if the battery in number 1 goes down again.

The battery is holding a charge now. I'm totally at a loss. Not complaining though. Thanks for all the advice.
