All those owners who have either a 32 or 34 Sundancer has anyone retrofitted the forward bunk, our foam mattress is killing my back. I looked at a 2inch memory foam, and figured I could cut it to size and place that on top on the standard foam mattress, Any other ideas, help before boating season starts here in the Northeast.

Steve,
Lots of posts on this topic-when we had our 02 320 we fit a memory foam topper and that made all the difference in the world. We liked it so much we kept it and use it in the 420, and bought a second one for the mid-cabin berth.

thanks, we looked at a 2inch memory foam topper at Target from seley and we figure to cut it to size didn't want to go thru the work, if these toppers didnot work.
thanks for the input.

If there is a Costco in your area, you might compare prices as I just saw the 2" memory foams there and thought the price was really good. I have the memory foam pillows and they are great.

do yourselves a favor and spring for the four inch topper. yeah it does cost a bit more, but if you google it, you can find some pretty good deals. we have a 4" on ours and admiral is considering buying a full size mattress and cutting it to fit. we use one at home, the best thing we've ever slept on. i thnk we bought a simmons.

We have one on 280, was so good we bought one for the house. Got ours from overstock.com about a year ago. Make sure you get the proper density foam, cheap knock offs have lower density and are useless. Ours is a Simmons I think as well.

Go to Overstock.com, they had 4 inch memory foam and two memory foam pillows for around $130. It is made by Serta and is real memory foam and I believe 4 lb. density. We cut it out with an electric knife and the best nights sleep ever.

We purchased a 4" foam pad from Overstock.com for ours. The Mrs claims it's now more comfortable than our Stearns and Foster at home...it's comfy for sure, not sure it's that comfy though.

I too bought 1" from Overstock.com and the 2" from Costco. The Admiral is making a bigger (thicker) cover pad to slip the 2 inch and 1 inch topper on top of the original foam pad. We tried the 1" foam pad on top of the original faom and that worked somewhat. The 2" pad will not fit ontop of the original pad. We disliked the memory foam only option as I sink to the bottom on my tail bone.

We bought the memory foam and it made a slight difference, But I still woke up whe I could sleep with back and neck pain. We went to the boat show and found a mattress with 7" deep foam custom amde and it made all the difference. I still have the mattress but it fit a 300DA. I don't know if it will fit but I want to sell it anyway. Only used one season and it is in new condition.

Density/thickness/quality are your friends on the foam. I have low back issues and the 4" stuff from Overstock did the job for us.

I'm guessing that with with the 4" foam everyone is just completely replacing the original foam with the new? SB

For those of you laying the pad over the existing mattress, what are you doing for sheets? My existing fitted sheets would not fit over the pad and the mattress. Are you using a flat sheet on the pad?

ok if everyone is covering their original mattress with the Memory foam , how do you keep in from moving... Ours slide a little bit....so now I've just wrapped the fitted sheet around both of the mattres's to keep them together....

Robert...the mattress you mention...did you use it in the vberth or in the midcabin? Any pics? If you used in the vberth, how did you open the closet door with it being 7 inches thick? I have been investigating sleep improvement aids.
