Placed a battery directly to the pump and fuel ejected. Connected the power clip back to the pump and no fuel ejects. What am I missing?

Mine is a 5ECD, is that the same as yours? Mine has a fuel pump relay under the top cover, and I think a fuse that powers it can be bad (not sure which one). Loosen the 4 screws on the side corners of the top, and lift the top off, and I think the relay is right there.
