Working on an electrical gremlin. Engine doesn't use the old style starter slave it has the newer setup series of 4 relays. More difficult to test.

Getting power from the ign. switch to the relay in question which has 4 wires. R/P 12v. Y/R trigger wire. 2 remaining wires are Y/B and Bl/ B.

I'm assuming the Y/B goes to the starter, I have no wiring diagram. Is it a straight shot or not? I have a no crank condition.

Anybody been there? Thanks

only 1 relay for the starter circuit. Start operation starts at the ign switch with power to the yellow/red, from there is goes thru the control box , then to the slave yellow/red. your powering up a coil to close the contacts to operate the starter Red/purple connects to Yellow/red that goes to the starters solenoid

Not on this one, there is no slave. Merc dropped the slave from this motor around 2005.

0w317009. Voltage is getting to the starter relay but not to the starter. I'm thinking the young feller didn't crimp on the new connector correctly. The little guy is coming back tomorrow for a second attempt. Tight tight tight

Sounds too simple, but anyone check neutral safety switch?

Turned out to be a voltage drop originating from the 90 amp fuse on the starter. Voltage was down to 10 amps at the 50 amp breaker, enough to spin the motor but not enough juice for the pcm to fire. Normally the first place to look but the motor had to be lifted to get to it, so it was the last place to go, went for all the low hanging fruit first.
