well looks like my wife and i are going to make the jump,, have deal on new 08 330, backed out of the axius as i think its too much money and early in the game, any comments if i made the right move

We can't comment on if you made the right move...That's a personal choice and decision only you will be able to answer.....The way the market is right now, you should be able to get a heck of a deal on a new boat, so don't be afraid to keep negotiating...Tell us a little about the 330 you are going to purchase, what options, what power, V-Drive or I/O's, etc.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Just saw a new 330 last weekend. Very nice looking boat. I dont know anyone who has driven an Axius boat, so can't comment on the benefits.

Although I do agree it is pretty costly.

When I bought my 340, the dealer gave me a day with a Captain. I had been boating for over 30 years and wasn't expecting to learn too much. but the things I did learn made it one of the best things I ever did. The Captain pointed out several things for me to do different, and it made a BIG difference in my ability.

Take a day with a Captain. You'll enjoy learning about your new boat and learn how to handle what you have chosen.

Nice choice on the 330, it's a beauty. Tell us more!

congrats and GOOD MOVE! if you think it's too big, you bought enough boat. each time you step up in increments, you take a beatin' on more depreciation when you dump the smaller boat for the larger one. SKIP THE MIDDLE BOAT!

as stated above, now's the time to buy - you wont regret it.

good luck!

Our local dealer has a demo day saturday 7/19 here in West Michigan for Axius and Zeus.

They will have a 330 DA with Axius and a 44DA with Zeus for demo's. I'll be there.

The 330 DA is our next boat.......... someday

Just demo'd the 330 with the Axius set-up today. Wow! My wife (who never usually handles the boat) was able to hold that boat exactly sideways to a 7 mph river current just with the joystick control. The drive by wire steering is also impressive. I was able to bank the boat hard through a 180 bend at full power. Everyone was hanging on so we didn't lose any passengers. Very impressive.

If Zeus is as good as this, I'm sold! I suggest to try out the new technology if you have a chance on one of these demo days because it's a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon especially when you're not paying for the fuel.

where did u try it, the one i tried was from skyline marina , boat was in bayport marina midland, absolutely loved it, just a dollars and sense why we bought the same model without axius from them, my wife also loved it who never mans the helm, maybe thats also why i bought the non axius, dont want her taking the new girl out with her friends, unless im there of course :)

Audiobiz,

I tried out the 330 at the Algonac Harbour Club, Lake St. Clair. We have temporarily left the Midland area because we bought this one in St. Clair area from Colony Marine. Planning to return north at some point.

The 330 is a very nice boat. Those motors really perfom well and get the boat on plane in no time at all. The Axius was just icing on the cake but there are a number of electronic steps one must take in its operation. It's fairly intuitive though, but my wife still thinks I should handle the boat.

Congrats!

We too just moved up from a Cobalt, an '05 255. Loved the Cobalt quality and respected the builder for what they do best, which is day boat runabouts.

We have had our '08 330DA now for about a week. We too drove an Axius with BravoIII but found that this particular boat had a noticeable vibration to it. We have also heard that Axius is having some issues. In fact, our dealer had to re-work the computer on this boat during Aquapalooza. No arguing that Axius and systems like Zeus will be the wave of the future. A very fun and easy to understand system. I think regardless of the 25,000+ hours of testing that Merc claims went into Axius, that it needs some water time to work things out.

Our new 330 has V-Drive 8.1S Horizons with bow and stern thrusters- a dream to drive. I love the shaft drive and feel very confident that we own proven technology. I love the new stuff, but for this kind of money, I was content to go with the proven product.

The 330 is a very well layed out boat with all the amenities that one would expect. Sea Ray has a winner here. Please let me know how you enjoy your cockpit grill- this is the one feature that my wife and I were not sure about. I'm concerned about grease splatter, smells getting into the bimini and the heat of the unit so close to the sidewalls. To be honest, a little unsure if we will even use it.

Enjoy your summer!!

congrats on your 330, how do you like the 8.1s, used the cockpit grill but had boat opened up,, i would do it with windows are back area enclosed as you are right i believe it would get into fabric, possible discolour windows,, worked great, steaks were very good

Good Morning-

This is a whole new experience for us. Grew up with single I/O's or outboards hooked onto 17-21' runabouots. The 15,000+ pounds that come standard with the 330 certainly provides a much different feel while under flight. The 8.1S engines in this boat are Horzions as well, which allows Merc to offer a full 4 year warranty on, twice that of the standard 8.1. So far these engines have perfomred very well. The tech was tat he boat yesterday to tidy up a few short comings and was very complimentary with respect to this engines.

The hole shot on a boat such as this will take some getting used too. This is my first twin engine application and this boat is running shafts as well. I am impressed thus far with the quickness it has in coming up on plane. Sea Ray has done a nice job here in the power category. The 8.1S are 370hp each and that combination gives the boat lots of get up and go. The 496MAG stern drive with Axius that we also test drove certainly had a more familiar feel to it then the shafts, but I am really enjoying getting to know how a shaft boat operates and responds to a variety of commands.

Reading some of the docking horror stories from the forum and just wondering when my day will come! LOL!

Glad to hear the grill did a great job. It would be blast to enjoy a cold beer and steak on the water. Something that I have never experienced.

Enjoy your new baby!!

Congrats on your new 33DA! The boat is very impressive! You picked the right power package with the 8.1 v-drives. A 40 mph v-drive cruiser is a rare breed! I have over 65 hrs on my 2008 Black hull 33 and love the boat. I am hard to impress also being a MarineMax/Sea Ray salesman for 8 years! Best of luck with the 33DA. I am here as a reference with any questions if you need me.

Just curious what type of percentage discounts you guys are seeing out there on the 330. I have a friend trying to buy one and the discounts where not the best.
