Hello everybody, I'm wondering if anyone has seen a thread discussing the maintenance schedule for a 44 Sundancer? I know the zincs are probably the most important issue because of the consequences if you don't replace them, but I have no idea how often I should change them? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks! Jason

There are lots of different systems on your boat. Best bet would be to contact your cummin's service center and get a maint schedule for your engines. Do the same with the generator and drives. You really need to break it down to specific items and ask questions about that one item. Engines have regular maint items like zincs and oil and filters, semi regular like impellers. then you move onto belts, checking engine alignments, dripless. then onto thing like valves and fuel etc... Same goes for the generator, batteries. Other items like windows and hatches need to be checked around the 7 year mark and re-bedded if necessary. Basically the list is endless and constantly rotating so you need to keep track of what has and hasn't been done. You want to make a list of things to do and check daily, weekly, monthly yearly. That way nothing creeps up on you.

We have an '06 44 Dancer with QS500's. Captain changed out a ton of zincs. Engine zincs, hull zincs, gen zincs seemed like a lot of them. He picked up an engine manual from Cummins for the engine and gen. It does have a thorough maintenance schedule in there.

I remember something about changing zincs annually if in salt water.

I have found in the warm FL waters that I need to change engine zincs about every 4 months especially the heat exchanger ones and the lower ones in the aftercoolers. The upper ones in the after cooler not so much since they are not in salt water that much.
