Hi.

Planning to buy a 240 SD (2000-2004) but I need to know the measurements of the beds before I go any further
Had a 225 Weekender '03 a couple of years ago, and the beds were to short for me (6ft 2")

So does anyone have a 240 SD, and know the measurements of the beds? Both cabin and mid cabin.
Height of the cabin? Can I stand straight?

I'm assuming you mean a 240 DA

I have an 06 240DA the beds in these boats are kind of small. I'm 5'8" and I can stretch out in the aft cabin my head hits one wall and feet firmly on the other.

As for the Bow birth, My feet hang a little over the edge of the bed but that has to be right in the center of the bed as you have a small closet on one side and the galley on the other. I'll could get better measurements soon because I'm doing some work on the birth for this coming season.

Thanks J.

But isn't the 06-model the "new" one?...
Or is the bed measurments the same in the 2000-2005 as in the 2006->?

We have the 2000 240 DA and I know you won't fit comfortably in the v-berth on ours. Won't be able to measure it for you for a couple of weeks yet though. Admiral is 5'3" and I am 5'8" and I'd say there is JUST enough room for the two of us. More would be nice of course. There's the galley on one side and the head on the other. If no one else responds I'll measure ours when we get it out of the shop. digi48682639_l.jpg

The filler cushions go even with the galley and the head but I don't think there's much more than about 5'8" there either. I guess if your boat choices are limited you could always extend the berth with a custom filler cushion and supports, but then you wouldn't be able to open the fridge or the head door when the bunk is made up.

I had a 2007 240 DA and I can say I preferred to sleep in the mid cabin. More room for me since I'm 6'3". I could only stand up straight at the foot of the stairs. No where else. Including the head. I loved the boat, but for me to really be able to enjoy standing up and sleeping in a real bed, we decided to upgrade.

Thanks Chris and Georgia for your fine reviews.
I'm 6'2"-6'3" (187cm :) ) and hope to get enough room in the mid cabin together with my wife.
We have 2 girls, 2 and 4 years old, that easily fits in the v-birth.

Or what do think guys?

I own a 250DA, and I am 6'0". You may have enough length in the mid-berth, but you won't have the width for 2 adults, unless you don't mind sleeping on your sides all of the time ;>). We use our mid-berth for storage; it is just very tight & claustrophobic.
You may be better off trying to extend your cushions on the v-berth to fit the 2 of you, and put the kids in the mid-berth.

Ok... how wide is the mid-berth?
Saw a film on Youtube, and the dealer called it a queen size bed.
For us scandinavians thats plenty of room ;-)

I'm 6-1" + and sleep with the bride on the V berth. As you know the port side is shorter and the starboard side is longer (the 240DA is less than my 260DA I believe) but the mid cabins are the same. It's a little short down there for me so I prefer the Vberth.

Like Todd, I also have a 260DA and I can tell you (from being in 240's) that while it may not seem, from the outside, that there's much difference between the two, there is actually nearly 4' in overall length. I'm 6' and I comfortably sleep on the starboard-side V-berth. I would call the mid-berth a full-size - not quite a queen - but I suppose it's close. Our two kids (9 and 7) sleep in the midberth. There's also more "walking around" room in the cabin on the 260.

Ok.
Maybe I'll start looking for the 260 instead?
But what about fuelconsumption?
Anyone with fuelflow and have some numbers to share?

I've run a lot of boats - both mine, friends/family and customers. I don't have any specific data, but I can tell you that the difference in fuel consumption between the two is going to be so close that it makes no difference. Probably only a few percent different, at best. But to get a fair comparison, you'd have to find someone that owned both boats, boated with the same load/people in each boat and also boated in exactly the same way. Otherwise, you're not comparing apples to apples. The circumstances/variables have to be identical for a comparison to mean anything.

To be more specific, I would sleep at an angle in the mid berth. My wife and I tried to sleep together in the v-berth and it was just not working for us. My feet would hang off. And like Dennis stated, there is zero "walking around" room in a 240 for 2 people.

+1  Depends how tall the admiral is too. The kids seem to love the aft cabin. It's a little place they can call their own. If the Admiral will fit on one of the sides of the main v-berth then I think extending it in the middle would be the option I'd choose. We've seen the new 260's and they don't seem to have any more room in the v-berth so you'd likely have to go to a 275 or 280, if the berhts in them are any bigger.

Donning Nomex. Please stand by.

I used to own a Regal 2460. My buddy had a 240 SD. He got on my boat and was amazed at how much more interior space there was in the Regal. More Clorox bottle looking? Absolutely. More comfort per linear foot? Yes. The mid cabin literally was a queen berth. Queen sheets fit like they did at home.

If you are looking purely to SR, the 26-28 is far more bang for the buck.

The older ('99-'04) 260's actually had more length than the newer ones.

On my 250 we always sleep in the mid berth - I'm 6'2 and have a ton of leg room. A full size matress pad fit the width perfect but was about 12" short so that gives you an idea of the size. We do not sleep on our sides and have decent room. It's definately no king size but a lot better than the v berth. It's tight to get in but a lot of room once in there.

One hell of an upgrade I must say Chris! 12ftitis!

I'm a big ole guy 6'2, 300+lbs and I can sleep in either berth. No room for a partner though. The mid cabin is tight but gets colder with the air running, that's where I like to sleep. I can't imagine putting two adults and two kids on the boat to sleep.
As Chris said the only place one can stand is in the entryway in front of the galley.

The big problem is the head. There isn't enough room in there to change your mind!
