Hello all, I am in the planning stages of building a garage and am trying to future proof the build as best I can I know sometime in the future we will be buying a 240 sundeck or something comparable in size. My question is for anyone who currently has a 240. What is the overall length from the top of the trailer tounge to the end of the swim platform. Or drive whichever sticks out more. Thanks in advance

There's no "one" answer as it depends on the trailer. It also depends on which model 240 Sundeck you are buying - the overall length changed around 2010 as it was completely different boat than the predecessor. Some trailers will have a swing away tongue - and depending on how close to the bow of the boat the swing is, it will of course factor into the length.
For now, take the length of your anticipated boat (specs are on SR's website) and add about 5 or 6 feet.

I am aware every setup won't be exactly the same I was just trying to get a general reference point but I hear what your saying, so a general rule is a trailer adds about 5 or 6 ft onto the boat length? This helps, thanks.
That question makes me think that garage isn’t big enough already and you havnt started building it yet….. when in doubt make it 3X bigger then your biggest guess…. A garage can never be bigger then you need

Whilel I do agree with you. the problem is, I can't add on to the land I have to work with lol that's going to ultimately be the restriction

My boat is a 2004 240, when the drive is trimmed up it sticks out just a tad past the swim platform. Mine measures right at 30' from the tip of tongue of trailer, to the back of the drive when trimmed up.

Another factor to consider is height. Type of trailer matters, as aluminum bunk trailers are taller than steel trailers with drop axles. Mine is almost 10' to the top of the windshield. Add a Tower, and the top is over 11' even folded forward.

Josh, if you put in a 12' door, you'll be good with whatever boat you end up with and won't have to lower the bimini or tower.
FYI, aluminum I-beam trailers can have drop axles and crossmembers, too.

I'm not so worried about height as I am planning for a vehicle lift so vertically won't be an issue.
