Anyone have custom upholstery done or know anyone with a smiler boat that has it?

I had planned on just leaving it all original design with new vinyl but when I was at the shop my buddy was doing a custom job on a pretty high end mastercraft and said the cost on material isnt much different then doing it stock so im looking for ideas but im not very creative when it comes to this stuff so id love to be able to steal a design or idea.

I like the layout Sea Ray did, just would like to up date the fabrics and colors a bit.

I have an 89 268 and I am in the same boat as you. No pun intended. I am excited to see some of these replies as I want to replace interior upholstery and maybe carpet. I really have no idea what it would cost but I think it would make a huge difference. I am also thinking about tearing up the carpet in the cabin and putting down that allure waterproof vinyl flooring.. so many project and so little time and money!

I don't care for the way Sea Ray did it. I've been in need of new upholstery myself, and have been toying with ideas on how to redo the whole helm Seat and rear bench. Like you JAB, I'm not that creative either. I like having the Helm Bench. but I want it designed differently, and change how the jump seats work.

I agree and originally this was my plan. I dont think I want to change to much. I was thinking of doing a wrap around on the top portion of the backseat opposite of the transom door and maybe adding the wide and low headrests that the modern searays use on the helm seat and wrapping it all in a little more modern looking material. So far im leaning towards smooth vinyl, cut and patterned the same but instead of 3 colors all white and using the searay bronze/brown for an offset color in there somewhere.

This, mainly its just to modernize it but not to change it entirely.

Downstairs will come eventually but im just doing up top for now. I got a late start for my winter projects and this has all kind of steam rolled over my boating season this year with might as well do it while im in there type projects so I just want to get finished and salvage what I can quickly at this point. So far ive resealed both out outdrives, pulled both motors, replaced all the rubber hoses, bellows, shift cables, stripped the interior ect ect ect. Bought a bunch of special tools for everything from cable adjustment to gimbal bearings and at this point I just want to take my kid fishing. But eventually I do want to modernize downstairs as well.

Actually the helm seat is one of the things I really like but it is dated looking.

Ive read your posts and didnt realise you were at Powell. When I initially decided on finding a 268 it came down to the one I have and a blue one with twins up at Powell. Did you have that up for sale last year or buy it about that time?

When I had my seats redone the upholsterer removed most of the piping added a little more padding to give it a more rounded look to my 1988 seats. It gave them a modern look plus they are more comfortable.

Any pictures?
