Hi I just got a 1995 290 sundancer with twin 4.3 mercruisers.
Didn’t come with batteries and looks like use 3. Any recommendations on what size I need?
Also anyone know what stern drive come with this boat. Don’t have any factory stickers. Thanks

If you can find the parts manual it might tell you the group size. Do some searches here.

V6's don't need much to start them. Group 24 800MCA would be plenty. Bigger is never a problem. However, is your setup such that two of the batteries are run in parallel with each other to both start an engine and provide power to the house? For that bank, depending on how you're using the boat, you may want them to be Group 27 or larger DC batteries.

Your sentence about "outboard" is confusing. You have stern drives.

My 1995 290 has 3 group 27 in it and they work great even when over nighting at anchor

Thanks for your help. Yes you’re right, I’m new to boating. I mean stern drives, will like to give a service but don’t have any label.

Post a pic of the drives - although with the V6's and your era boat, I suspect you have Alpha drives. Or google for Alpha, Bravo 1, 2 & 3 to see the differences.

Alpha Gen II should be on there with 4.3's
