3116 shuts off

I think I may have a couple of problems here but any help on what to check would be helpful.
Running our 40odDB at 2100 rpm all is fine and part motor just shuts off. Won't restart, the ignition button has power the alarm sound but not even a clik from the starter. Tried a bunch of times it sounded like a few times it started to crank the nothing.
Made it back on one motor get it into the slip, and she starts up fine.

Not this engine always started easy without the cat cold start procedure nor I have to use that to start.
All tempos and such looked fine.
Taking to some mechanics and get that confused look and maybe this or that.
I could use some info to start checking

There is an inexpensive relay in the box mounted on the engine. You can buy a replacement at NAPA or any other parts store. I believe it controls the fuel solenoid. You might want to start there. It's a little square thing with a couple of connector blades... try Napa Part # AR174

I once had the breaker under the key not set to the on the whole way it shut down the engine. Took me some real searching and started from the key back and figured it out when I reset the switch. It was a pleasant surprise when I found it because I was miles away from a mechanic. Hope it’s something simple like that
