Looking at late model (05-08) 34 Dancers. 8.1 Horizons V drives.
What if anything should i pay special attention to? Will have it surveyed.

Looking for comments & input from current owners. Never have piloted one, Boat in Lake Erie - Is the ride in 4' seas tolerable? What is the crusing speed? Are the 8.1's real thirsty?

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

You will love it! And yes the 8.1s are heavy drinkers if you run em. Cruise right around 3K on the tach which is easy on the fuel. I am land locked and have seen 4' waves only once and the ride was fine. Even backed her into a 14' wide slip while they were happening.

Good Luck with your search.

:smt038 I have a 2000 340 with 7.4's. They average .9mpg and handle 4 footers fine but do require max trim in rough water. 8.1s should average .8mpg. I usually cruise at 3200 rpms to get those numbers, that gives me a speed of 26 mph with an average load of fuel, water, people etc. The boat comes on plane quickly and rides very smooth in Lake Erie chop. Handles and docks very nicely. I think its the perfect size for Erie especially if you're visiting the islands alot because the larger boats struggle to get docks there at busy times and the smaller boats get beat up by the ever-present chop on Lake Erie. I'd suggest a 340 Sea Ray to anyone boating Lake Erie.

great boat! will burn about 15 gals per side at fast cruise but if your just taking it easy 1500 or less rpm about 3 gals per side per hour
P.S mine will be for sale soon
moving up to live aboard

Kicks up a monster wake at that speed, so be considerate of your fellow boaters and use this speed only while circling sailboats and bayliners .

Hmmm, never thought about the sailboats...
