I just bought this boat new for this season (2000 340 dancer).

Wondering what other owners think that are getting as far as milage. I seem to be running it at 3200-3300 rpms at 30mph. Have not really got a good read on what I'm getting

Oh i have the 7.4's 380hp

That would be my guess too, with a clean bottom and average weight.

I burn about 30 gph at that speed with the 310s. The Horizon 380s are extra thirsty. Figure at least another 5 or so gph for the Horizons.

These are my actual results that I measured several years ago.

It depends on a lot of factors. Amount of fuel, water on board, # of passangers and sea conditions, etc. But I would say anywhere from 22 to 25 knots

I use the speed from my GPS...i feel like its wrong or to good to be true. At 3300 it says I'm doing 30MPH

Conditions are 1/2 tank of water and about 1/2 of gas 4-5 people

I use the gps also but have it set to knots. 25 knots would be 28.8 mph I usually measure my fuel consumption as an average. So on long trips, 4 or 5 hrs of crusing my fuel consumption averages 30 gph. My speed could vary from 3.5 knots to 25 knots. I do not think my boat would do 30 mph at 3300 rpm I would need to be between 3600 and 3800 to acheive that kind of speed

Dan,

What are you getting for your WOT RPM? I have the same motors as you and I have
17X17 props that I had repitched to 17 3/4, to take advantage of the extra HP that this motor puts out. I was still able to maintain a 4500 RPM WOT which is at the bottom of the accepable range, I am gettig just about the same numbers as you as far as speed, I would bet that someone tweeked your props as well. I have have measured at 3200 RPM (25 Kts.) just shy of 30 GPH, which puts me in the high .9's MPG. I have done allot of tweeking to get that, I experimanted with different prop configs., I have replaced anchor rode with all chain to give me a more level ride with less trim tab (side effect was better anchoring), I also keep the bottom and props as clean as posable.

Your boat if I recall is a little heavier then mine, it is the same hull but there were some changes that I forgot what they were.

Dan,

What are you getting for your WOT RPM?

Sorry I must be slow today WOT:huh: (with out trim)

I'm not sure if the hauls are different. I would imagine not, i was never told that the props were changed so I'm not sure. I just know that this boat hall as* compared to my last boat.

I had a Wellcraft St.Tropez with 7.4's and at 3300 I was olny going about 22knts

WOT = Wide Open Throttle

On a boat you always need to verify your WOT is correct this is the only true baseline that you can work off of. This is the tell tale sign of the whole drive train.

I'll have to check. I've olny opened it up once since i got it and cant remember the RPM's. I do know that i had it going 42MPH when i did open her up though. I was blown out of my seat !!!! Cant belive a cruiser that big was going that fast

Top end speed sounds about correct but I would like to know what the WOT RPM is, Early in the Spring I can get 4500 RPM's @ 41 MPH (36 kts.)
