Taking my aft flag and wood teak pole down at dusk every day on board as i'm sure is the proper or maybe not so on a boat, not sure, .but if it is?? is there a sleeve or something they have to slip over it??? Taking down that flag off, and on, with those Jabsco skipper clips is a major pain in the A--.:smt009 and removing the whole pole from the chrome housing after making the fit tight and screwed in from the side of the mount is another pain in the A--
ANY IDEAS??

Several companies offer them over the internet. Google "burgee covers". But, any canvas shop could make one to match your canvas for a few bucks.

GOOD IDEA:smt001 We're having canvas work done in the spring

thanks....

I guess the first question is "why are you taking it down each night"? How many others in your marina do the same? Although I was in the Navy for 11 years, and have worked for them since getting out in 2001, I do not adhere to doing that on my personnel boat. (My flag-pole at home is lighted however, so I never take it down. Except in serious storms or known impending rain of course).

BUT, in saying all of this, I had a sheath made from a local guy for $25 that matches my canvas. I put that on everytime I come in from a cruise. Mostly because it looks cool and keeps my flag new looking. :-D As for the rules, regulations and ettiquete, I have no idea. I am just typing to see myself type right now, and I am bored at work. Lol! Sorry....

I do not have any pics of the sheath right now, but will find one this evening. I also had one made for my yacht club burgee on the bow, my spot-light and window-vent motor.

Window motor vent?? Mmmmmmm:huh:

Yeah, my front windhshield vent in the lower center of my windshield did not have a cover. I had one made that matches my canvas.

I have a vent but not sure about something to cover

ill have to take another look in the spring time

You probably already have a plastic cover over yours. Mine did not and I could see the motor, wiring and extension shaft. I had the small cover made just for looks. In case you could not tell, I am a bit anal-retentive when it comes to ocvers and details. Lol!

Glad to see you got the 36-inch pole. Are you going to varnish it, or leave it alone. I had the last coat done on the pole I told you about inthe PM a week or so ago, when it fell on the floor in my basement. cat hair and dirt all over the final coat (8th coat!). Look great though, and will after I finish it, again.
