Found out that my aft shower sump was no longer pumping, turned out it was just the check valve however the entire area needed some TLC so I decided to remove and replace the whole sump. I quickly realized that it was impossible to remove it with out first breaking the plastic flange holding it down because some knucklehead made it so you can't access the screws!!

I knew i wanted to change the mount to make this easier to work on in the future so I went ahead and removed the plywood platform it was sitting on, it wasn't in the best shape and was probably due for a rework. while down there I tested the bilge pump and float switch. Bad float switch! and what luck seems no matter what screwdriver I try it's not coming out! heads must be stripped. I installed a new one right next to it rather than fighting it any longer.

Made a new platform, this one will be removable.

I dobbed some silicone in the existing hols from the old mount and installed the new base. I think my camera has x-ray vision because in this shot it looks like the top of the base is not painted when it actually is the same as the whole body.

With these 4 screws I can remove the sump & platform in one piece, easier to work on and easier to access the bilge pump below.

Now I can put the whole thing in there and move it around while getting the hoses and clamps locked down

And the final result!

Nice job!! I might do something similiar to make future servicing easier. My float and sump need inspection / replacement and I'd like to have new shower sump just to have a new one. This helps, because removing that thing looked CRAZY.

Can't believe you have to break it to get it out, but I don't have tools to access a blind phillips head either .....

If you can get your hand behind the box to touch the screws , you can use a couple of the cable type flexible socket drivers connected end to end with a 5/16 nut driver and a Phillips tip. Only if you can reach the screw heads.
