I'm new to the SR boards, happy I found it.

I knew if I owned my boat long enough it would be a classic!

I Purchased the boat new in 1988. 39' EC F6F2213B-E036-4463-BF59-D01D9B44EC76_1_105_c.jpeg Twin Diesel 3208's turbos. Located in Marina Del Rey, Ca. Also a mooring inside Avalon Harbor, Catalina.

My children were raised with boating being a major activity. The boat came with a VCR (since replaced) - children have not been able to rid their minds of the JAWS movie i played one night. (still have the tape, VCR long ago replaced).

First the questions:

1. Would anyone know how to remove the cabin sliding plexiglass door. It's a mystery. Video would be fantastic.

2. The two rail rolling hardware are, must be replaced. Any thoughts on where to source them or have them custom made if possible or another creative solution. I did remove them. Photos are scary. I greatly appreciate any help with the above.

I picked Diesel over gas for safety and believing I wouldn't change boats often if at all. Over the course of 30+ years I've gotten to know many systems first hand. Dropped props, broken shaft, black smoke from the exhaust, abrupt engine shut down (learned about a knee hitting a switch early on), leaks, pumps, lights.

Happy I found this group. David

I would really have to dig back to remember where I sourced out the door hardware. I think that it was screen door hardware that I got at a window and door shop. As for the door removal, I seem to remember that I removed the wood at the top of the door to access the upper track. There were wood plugs to drill out that covered up the screws that held the wood moulding down. That is all that this 74 year old brain can access right now.

my brain is only slightly behind yours. This is a heavy metal frame with curved Plexiglas. The top has two spacers. If I can find or build the right rollers - door removal can be avoided. Thanks for the thoughts. Appreciate any wisdom.

I have a similar problem on my '85 390 EC which needs new rollers on the door bottom. So I guess you don't have to remove the door to get at the rollers you took out in the pictures? Did you find a source for roller replacements?

ElectricalDoctor has it right. You have to remove the teak at the top of the door, and if i remember correctly, you SLIGHTLY deflect the door a little bit, and you can pop it out. He's also right that screen door hardware works. I bought rollers at Lowes, believe it or not.

Thanks... I was afraid of that. At least the rollers will be easy to source!

Have you looked on TaylorMades web site?

On the door rollers if you try Reflect Window & Door they might be able to help. If they don't have it you can send them a pic. Their site had a nice selection. Good Luck
