4.3 I/O To drain, or not to drain?

My twin 4.3's have a knob I can turn to drain all raw water out of the cooling system. After flushing with fresh water, should I should drain after each use. I leave the boat for almost a week, then use it every weekend...

Well, my thought would be that if you drained the water out, you would have more interior metal open to corrosion.

I agree with Dennis, keep the metal completely covered in water, air speeds corrosion.

I was told to never drain that engine during regular summer use for the corrosion advice already given before me. The water actually keeps it from the corrosion.

I drained it once or twice in the very early spring when a hard freeze was passing through (cracking the engine is worse than corrosion!) and once or twice in the late fall for the same reason.
