Went out yesterday for a nice long ride...
opened hatch and saw a bit of oil on the bilge floor under port motor... looks to be slinging from the harmonic balancer.
Looks like plenty of access, but I am curious if the seal is the same as automotive?
Where could I get the part number from?
I have a puller, but I have read that if it is a plastic cover the seal may not be serviceable?
TIA

Check those oil lines from the remote filter real close before you draw any conclusions. I had the same thing.

They claim its a one time use but ynless it breaks coming off I dont see why the seal cant be changed .The seal is the same as the auto.

So can the seal be changed with the front cover still on the engine? It would seem to be straight forward...

Do they run from the back of the engine under the oil pan to the remote oil filter area?

Yes. And if they leak on top where the filter is, the oil drips down the front of the engine.

Tie a white rag around each of the 4 lines by the filters and go for a ride...

I have ,but remember the cover is plastic and you cant hammer them in like a tin cover.
More of a carefull pushing.

I've heard this is a common thing with the 4.3 and it can be a PIA to fix in a boat. Usually involves dropping the oil pan to really fix it right. Mine seeps a little and I decided not to mess with it at this point.
