Sorry been away, As for an impeller puller I used:

https://www.amazon.com/Sea-Dog-6600...d=1604244499&sprefix=impeller+,aps,321&sr=8-2 Works great on my 450 Diamonds. (pain to get to the port! quite a but of disassembly required)

I replaced all my pumps with the 2000GPH gold Series Last year. Sump, two in the stern, one in the front of the bilge, and one one in aft Birth.
I got them on e-bay for 120 a pop a year ago.

Lastly I got a rebuilt/replacement for the pump portion on the raw water system for the AC system magnetically for like 75 buck. I cannot find it off hnd but if you are looking for it I can find it. Just PM me. :)

Yes I did. It is the front windshield along the vertical. He bought 55' of new black trim direct from Taylor Made. Just waiting for social distancing to ease before I go pull out the old trim, reseal the window glass and install the new trim.

Hey Bill,

Can this windshield resealing be done at 50 degrees? It’s chilling here in the Chesapeake but I think I need to reseal at least part of my windshield (I posted pics in the old thread where you originally talked about this task). Just wondering whether (ha ha) to do this now or hold of until spring. The boat will be wrapped, but not until after turkey day.

Recently replaced my 1500 GPH bilge pump. I looked at replacing it with a 2000 GPH but the current draw was noticeably more. I didn’t examine the wire sizes and breakers to see if the circuits would like the 2000 or not. Did you look into this? Would be good to know for next time.

When you pull off all the old trim you will have to use sealant on the window edge to stop the leaking. So it’s just a matter of the application temperature specs of your sealant.

When I did it I used Sikaflex that said it would dry @50 degrees but it honestly took about a month and wasn't until the 70's that it curred properly. I pulled all three windows and resealed top to bottom. This was 4 years ago and have not had a problem since.

I did. Everything was well within specification (it was pulling under 9 amps per pump) and I think if memopry serves the wire is rated to 15AMP for well over the distance it travels per connected junction. I have not had a problem. I did all float switches at the same time because I figured do them all once and should be good to go.

Hey everyone! I closed on my '97 400DB last week and my first week aboard it was awesome! I took my first ride on Saturday and wow is this a big jump from my '05 320DA.

I have a question about the Westerbeke genny: it seems i can ONLY start it from the panel inside the salon, i can only shut it off by lifting the hatch and killing it from the panel on the genny itself. Is this normal or can others with the Westerbeke start/stop/preheat from the panel inside the salon? If you have any pictures of the genny controls inside the main panel, that would be great. Thanks for any info you can share.

Mike

Congrats! And welcome to the club! I made this exact jump (320DA to 400DB) last year, too. It's been awesome. I do have the WB genny and I can start/stop it from the panel inside the cabin. You're saying the gen won't turn off when you hit the switch on the panel? I don't have any pics of mine right now, but they are the standard rocker switches...

That is correct, it only toggles UP to start but there's no DOWN position to shut it off from that rocker switch (there is no second switch in that panel either). Maybe the rocker switch is bad? Also, do you have a Pre-Heat button in your inside panel or is it just the single rocker switch?

I also have the Westerbeke genny in my 400DB. I can start it and stop it from the panel. I think you just need to push the top of the switch again to shut it off, not the bottom of the switch. Try that please.

welcome to SR.i have the same gen try to push and hold for few seconds

Tried both suggestions and it did not shut off. I had to shut the genny off with the remote bypass, or the STOP button on the front of the genny itself. Bad switch maybe? What is the function of the remote bypass switch? (sorry for the rookie questions)

The "remote bypass" allows the generator controls to be active. Only one control is supposed be active at a time. Either the generator controls or the salon switch but both are not supposed to work at the same time.

I’m trying to clean my forward isenglass and curious if anyone stands on the fiberglass area above the glass In front of the bridge. I want to scrub the forward isenglass and don’t want to always clean it from the inside. Has anyone done this without harm ?

I stand on mine all of the time.

I’m 5’10” 210 and it felt solid. I just didn’t want to hear the glass crack or damage the fiberglass.
I will say. Cleaning the isenglass is SOOO much easier than trying to clean the outside from the helm. Those gymnastics sucked and I never could get it clean the way I liked.
Thanks all.
