Getting back to Scoopers question does anyone know of a source for these duplex outlets? I would also like to replace the phone jack in the master stateroom without taking outlets away from the rest of the boat. Find it unlikey SR made them, so must of been a common supplier.

Switching topics. Has anyone replaced the telephone outlet port side of the salon with another AC outlet? Looks like it should be an identical outlet to the one right above it. Any recommendations on where to get a matching one? I don't want to take on a project of replacing all the outlets in the boat so I'd like a match. The admiral would not like a mismatch.

ok guys got a new one. My exhaust elbow on my Cummins 6CTA if bolted in by 4 bolts. Looks like while under way yesterday in 4 footers they were rusty and 3 of them snapped off. I lost power which I don't understand because it was after the turbo- unless from all thee black smoke and soot? I need to get down there and open the hatch and start to figure it out- I just have had company and can't get to it until tomorrow but I'm stressing out about the power loss. I am hoping I can just replace the bolts do a strong cleaning and be back to running within a week and don't need a turbo. Any advise or things I should look for before pulling the whole damn Turbo? Pic's to follow

Roof access.
Need to get up on roof to wax, paint spotlight and also tweek bimini. Anyone know the safest way? I am considering either a ladder from the side deck or climbing over the bridge instrument dash.

My roof is a Bimini so I don't climb on it! I clean it annually when I put it up. You have a roof on a 400? If it were me, I'd write a check...

on second thought maybe you mean the roof over the windshield? I lay on the windshields (spreading my weight out so as to not stress and one spot) to access up there. Or go out the helm window. Someone smaller than me might feel comfortable sitting up there. I don't. To wash, I use a long handled mop.

Yes I meant the roof over the galley area not the bridge area.
I'm a lightweight- 165 so I have stepped on the bridge (seeing when they put my shrinkwrap up and seeing footprints there has let me to believe it can support it) of the window... BUT! my preferred way is though the bimini windows. note wear sneakers as to not slip and bring wax and a rag to redo where you stepped...

Got the studs out at a machine shop. resurfaced the face. going to reinstall and replace many connecting parts -($400 overnighted from sbmar.com) and hopefully back in action this weekend. Thinking about having both fully gone through and new seals and sleeved this winter. anyone else done it? Where did you? Thinking LITUBO.COM Anyone used them?

I hoist one of my daughters up and they wax the area I can not reach

I don’t know the safest way, but the way I have been doing it for 10 years is going up from the side deck. Hands on the hand hold rail, bare feet up onto the side rail then one foot at a time up onto the hand hold rail. I end up kneeling on an old rubber backed throw rug that I keep on the boat for this purpose and kneeling/laying on in the ER for maintenance work. I stick my feet/toes down between the brow and the hand hold rail while up there for stability and leverage. I compound or wax from the center out to the edge of the rug, move to the other side, do the same thing. After the wax has hazed, come back and buff the section with the wax on it, then get down and compound/wax the section where the rug was which can be done standing on the side deck. I’ve thought about going through the front glass of the bridge but didn’t like the idea of doing it…just seemed like I wouldn’t have as much control of my movements as the way I am doing it. FWIW, I don’t like the idea of a ladder from the side deck, at least without another person to keep it where it needs to be. My wife helps me out but she’s not always there so I’m alone a lot in the building.
I don’t have a picture of me up there, but here’s one I took while doing it this past spring. BECAREFULL, YMMV.

Valve lash is also one for experts really.

I watched my brother-in-law former CAT mechanic do mine. I helped with setting the flywheel alignment hole and rotating the engine by hand with a bar, while he made the adjustments (the first part of this video ).

I agree with his comments in the end. Don't be afraid to try this if you are comfortable turning wrenches. It reminded me of adjusting the valves in a car/gas engine when I was a teen.

Another good video:

My brother-in-law former CAT mechanic doesn't have the special tools for the injector height adjustment process (he is no longer turning wrenches for CAT). I am considering purchasing them, then watching him do it. My only issue is then I have tools I will probably never use again. I wish we could share them amongst ourselves here :)

Before some of you say I am idiot, this is horrible advice, let an expert do this work; I tried, 3 times, and got ghosted, 4th mechanic was kicked out of the marina because he didn't have insurance. The marina service doesn't work on diesels. Plus I trusted my brother-in-law more, and he taught me along the way.

I wish we could share the tools and your brother in law!

Getting survey and sea trial done on the 5th, engine survey, oil analysis same day. Very excited and becoming real!

Surveyor familiar w Sea Rays, anything I should be looking for in particular?

I’m surprised oil analysis can be done same day, it should be a comprehensive readout of various readings almost like a blood test. Normally an engineer survey needed separately from surveyor unless surveyor is very cluey with those engines and generator. Test hull for moisture out of water. Sea trial at wot should be no smoke no steam.no alarms (overheat). Oil pressure. Synchroniser, autopilot . Surveyor should know to test everything from cooktop to trim tabs to door handles etc . Things we see on the forum regularly are vacuflush toilets needing service somewhere like duckbills, fridges failing due to age (expensive to replace ). Loads to test but dont be phased by the scale of it, it’s because searay stacked these boats with so much good stuff

adding to what Pgeee said. A common cause for concern is moisture if the railings were not rebed or also a soft deck. They will likely check a little extra around the stern swim platform and the anchor. Common spots that water can do some major damage if undetected.

Sorry if my post seemed to have an inference of a same day oil analysis. I meant the survey was being done and an engine survey was being done on the same day. Separate surveyor.

So, we endured a little storm last week. The boat suffered some scratches below the rub rail which I'll be able to take care of but what has me worried is this little( about 6") plastic end rub rail cap. I can't find it anywhere online.
Does anyone have any leads as to where i might find this or a suitable replacement
