40 sedan bridge forum

Thanks i appreciate the feedback looks like a pretty straight forward job my thoughts were to send the shaft to the shop check it for balance and change cutless bearing before reinstalling it

We added the hydraulic platform to Shenanigans a couple years ago (love it, by the way) and have left over some Inifnity carpet from the OEM platform. The hydraulic platform has different dimensions so this carpet is no longer used. Wondering if anyone on here might be interested in it? Fits perfectly on the OEM platform (you'd need to add the mating bottom snaps to the platform). And it is nice to have so the platform isn't so slippery!

It's just taking up space in my garage and I'll never use it again. But I'd hate for it to go to waste. It's in very good shape. No, I don't have the rest of the carpet ... that is still on the boat!

Free if you're local to the Baltimore area and are willing to come meet me to get it. Free if you're out of town too, but you'll have to pay for the shipping (I'll handle the boxing and wrapping).

Does anyone know a trick to access the anchor locker ?
I need to replace my windlass, can I access thru the foreword stateroom?
Will the area at the head of be, can it be removed?
Surprisingly enough, a skinny guy can crawl in there through the deck hatch. Had my 20 year old nephew in it to assess and photograph my broken horn compressor, then a dock neighbor friend slid in there to install a new one for me. I wouldn’t have believed it…. Maybe find a local teenager around your marina. Plan to rebuild mine this spring, and understand that it needs to be removed to do so. Removing your V Berth speakers allows some access as well.

After last summer I was looking at getting a set of spare props, my props are stamped 22R26 and 22L26.
I see most are running a 23 or 24, could these have been reworked to a smaller size.
I do reach full RPM and cruise at 2100 rpm and see 26 mph to 29 mph depending on lake conditions.
These were worked on this summer but I don't have report at home.

I had my props turned down to 22.5 and i am getting 24 mph @ 2200 rpm so i would think they may have been altered

My stock props are 22x24's. I picked up a set of 22x23's from a guy that had sold his boat and had a spare set of 22x23's. Figured it would be nice to have an extra set since we plan to do the loop at some point. Put the 23's on in the spring. Seems to spin up a little faster as to be expected. Gained a little RPM. Not that I go anywhere wide open, but it will hit 30 with either set with not much fuel & water and fresh bottom. I have 7.4 mags 380hp each.

That’s fast, i don’t get that speed unless im throdled up i have Cummins in my boat and my wife has it loaded up its heavy

Sea Ray did put 26 pitch with Cummins engines in 2000 and 2001. Then they changed it to 24 pitch in 2002. 26 pitch would be excessively over propped for most of us. If you are reaching 2600+ rpm at WOT with those props, then your boat must be completely stripped down of weight from gear and food and stuff. For example I’m now at 22.7 pitch to be sure of comfortable rpm margin with the load I carry.

Thanks for responses, I have Cummins as well.
I don't let the wife leave alot on board unless we are on a trip, then it can be fairly loaded.
I will look for a set of 24s for spares.

A prop shop can turn them down to 24 for about $500 each.

i hardly ever use shore power so need a reminder. When I am connected to shore power, if I leave the AC Converter switch off, is there any battery charging still occurring?

The AC Converter breaker usually controls the battery charger when on shore power or generator power.
thanks for the replies, so here's my 2nd question. I rarely have shore power available so the generator is the go. But sometimes I don't want the noise such as when there are other boats moored close by or when it's late. What's to stop me getting a decent sized (100ah) lithium battery, take it to the boat fully charged, store it in the trunk/lazarette, and feed via an inverter into my shore power inlet. Then for those occasional needs (microwave, espresso etc) I can just switch over to shore power

Did you up the Amps and if so did you need to upgrade anything else to handle the extra
Paul, no I still have the factory alternators. I swapped them once, trying to track down an intermittent charging issue. That is a really long story...

Other than the expense of some cables, nothing. You would just need to size the inverter/battery properly and make sure it can provide the peak power that you need and the longevity you would want. Just bought one of those things for tailgating so that I didn't have to buy another toy with a motor!

Just looked back here at something I did a few years ago to remember how. Every picture from before the hack is gone from this forum. Which is about 99% of the pictures. All the pictorial documentation - poof.
