The other amazing thing about diesel 410's - mine weighed 1 1/2 times what my 8.1 powered 340 weighed, but it got 50% BETTER fuel economy! Loved those CAT 3126's!

My 1994 400EC has gas engines, 7.4s with carburetors, that I just did a repower on. I have said many times that if my boat was diesel, I would be done.
My EC has a great layout, inside and out. I can manage her single handed. She can take more than I can or want too (See the Northeast Flotilla thread from 2017.....4-6' seas, with an occasional 8', between Montauk and Block Island ).
As for my numbers, I don't have specifics yet since the repower, but I was cruising between 3,200-3,500 rpms on the trip home last week and was getting between 20 - 22 statue mph. Made the trip from Riverhead, NY out Shinnecock Inlet into the Atlantic Ocean coming in Jones Inlet and then home (about 115 statute miles total) in about 5 hours (not counting stop for lunch in Freeport) using a little over 3/4 of my fuel tanks (300 gallons total). I will have the fuel number when I refill on Saturday.
Now all I need to do is start a GoFundMe page. We've met Michael at Goose Pond Marina on one of our trips! Nice guy!!
410 express with Cummins... 26 gph @ 26 knots
4kts speed increase with 100 more rpm... Interesting. What do you use for fuel flow gauges?
Hopefully all will be well. Did you put together and install the draining system for the transmissions? Interested to here how that work out.
I just plugged it in. Sucked 2 gals of tranny fluid in about 1 minute. A ne2 filter and fluid, I should be back up and running again in less than an hour.
Not bad considering it took me a day or two the first time with the mess I made and running for various tools rags pots etc...
Cat published burn rates...I don’t have fuel flow sensors. The 2200 rpm speed was taken another day, different conditions, but just a data point. I put them in a spread sheet, but for all practical purposes, the boat gets around 1 nm/gal +/- at cruise and seems to be consistent with other 410 Dancers.
One thing I should probably record it trim tab position, and the speed change up vs down.
I had a 1997 400 DA (sold it) but have a left over power pack for the Norcold refrigerator. Does anyone know the model number of the Norcold used in the 400DA? Was going to list it on ebay. This is a long ago discontinued part for Nevercolds.
Thanks….
Edit....believe it was a DE461?
I replaced all my lights in 2017. There's a post somewhere on here about it. I didn't have to change 1 fixture, only the bulbs. I got them all off EBay. Can't remember exact places I got them, plus some of mine were green. These are the cheap china bulbs and I figured for the price I would try them. So far I have not had one problem with them except that 2 that I put in the cabin were dimmer than all the other ones. For the Nav lights I bought better ones from Superbright on EBay. They are also the festoon bulbs but I think the Red and Green are 37mm and the stern is a 42mm. Try the links below to get you in the vicinity and pick from there. I'll try to post some pics of mine if I can find some.Led bulbs? Been reading so many posts thought I would just ask- anyone on the 400 da replaced bulbs to switch from all the halogen to led or did you have to change fixtures? Any link to what was used would be greatly appreciated. I want to start with the arch and cockpit and then all lighting in the cabin.
Not sure if this is the problem or not but I had a GFI trip in the cabinet of my aft head one time that had me baffled for awhile. Check for that.Recently brought home a 2001 SD. Everything went as planned. Once at home port, hooked up to shore power with new cords, and starboard side is not getting any 120v. Its showing on the panel, but no plugs or systems work. Any tips?
