Does anyone know the racor filter element part number? I’m not at the boat today but would like to order my onboard spares

haha, the hull is thick :)

Multi-tool is a god send for these jobs

For whatever it's worth it looks like a prior owner of your boat did struggle with water coming from his sumps. You can see what looks like white caulk around the lid. Could be a tell tale sign that someone had a failing pump or switch and was sick of the water backing up into that bilge area.

thats a good catch. I wasn’t sure if that caulking would have been original, but I didn’t think so. It was still adhered so they haven’t been opened since whenever it was applied. It was nasty inside too.

I’ll likely replace both sumps entirely this offseason, there is something unsettling about 18 year old shower goo

Here's what I have from my 410 file:

Racor Filters - www.discountmarinesupplies.com
2010PMOR 30 Micron - Red Cap

I think the latest ones I bought for my 58 came from racorstore.com

Has anyone had their transmission coupler serviced? Just wondering how much its going to set me back. I'm showing some rubber under my port trans so I'm sure its time to replace the "hockey pucks". 2002 410 EC w/ Cummins 450C

One of my hockey pucks failed, left black rubber confetti behind my starboard engine. Waiting for final bill but was told the pucks are about $100 each and labor wasn't too long.

I have been using Mobile DELVAC 1 ATF since I took possession. According to ZF Tech support any Dextron ATF can be used. The specification from ZF is TE ML-04D and Mobile DELVAC 1 is specifically on ZF's list and is marketed as meeting that specification. I think you can find cheaper, but for me the cost difference was negligible and I had a known approved fluid.

Here is the ZF Spec Sheet --> https://aftermarket.zf.com/remotemedia/lol-lubricants/lol-en/lol-te-ml-04-en.pdf

Castrol has TransMAX in a Dex/Merc and full sysnthetic formulation that I think would work fine, but I couldnt match up the specs (too lazy), and these are about 1/2 the cost. Castrol is more aimed at the automotive market and doesn't list out ZF approvals, making it confusing as to what exactly you are purchasing.

I buy it by the gallon from Summit racing and have it shipped. Each one takes 7.4 quarts so I just buy 4 gallons. The cost of the Mobile DELVAC 1 is $30/gal, the Castrol is about $16. Both go on sale occasionally.

Is there a filter/screen to clean on the trans as well? Ours scored high on the oil samples by a bit (port more than the stbd) but I'm not reading into it too much until we change fluids this year and resample it next year. I suspect its the original fluid or at least many years old so the copper buildup could be from year over year compounding versus abnormal wear

here’s a pic of our plate - I noticed it’s HSW800V2. Is that an updated version from the V1?

there were several versions of the the HSW800 with minor modifications Until ZF did a total redesign and it’s now the 85IV. These transmissions were right on the edge of the max torque spec vs the 3126 output, so there were issues, usually on the port transmission as this one ran in the reverse direction of the starboard.

The fluid is the same, the filter is the same.

I would add EZ oil drain valves if you have not already refilled to make that job much easier/quicker, and change the fluid, resample next winter.

Sounds good, I will.

I see a few threads where folks say don’t change the fluid on an old tranny as it can actually cause problems since you remove all the particulates. I can’t imagine leaving old fluid in there is actually a good thing?

Operation of this marine gear is predicated on good pressure from the pump and disk plates that are not worn out. Replacing the fluid won’t have an effect on that, but will help with the lubrication of the bearings and gears.

I consider it similar to an engine oil change and part of the preventative maintenance regime.

Does anyone happen to have the Taylor Made part number for the Windshield itself, on a 92 400 Express. There should be a sticker on the port side, inside, lower portion of the windshield. My sticker is gone, but the glue is still there. I need to pull and reseal the windshield (has anyone done this before?) and looking to see how much new gaskets/weatherstripping will run me, if they are still available.

The piece of headliner right in front of the electrical panel door on our 410DA is sagging slightly but enough that the door rubs on it when you open it. How is it held on, Christmas tree clips? I don’t want to pull it back to investigate and damage them more but the vinyl is getting scratched

During a trip with our friends I had a slight mishap during a rafting tie up and my buddies Carver. Needless to say he won. I now have 2 bent stanchions on my starboard side that need to be repaired. I have a local guy that will do the work. I will be unbolting them so he can remove and repair then weld back in place. My question is has anybody on the 410 Express removed any of the bolts to rebed them and if so where did you access them from inside. I'm looking at the 3rd from the aft and the forward one where the cable attaches. I've started exploring and so far do not see an easy way to them.

Who have you guys used to get props reworked? Assuming the aetnas I’m installing don’t somehow recover 250rpm (sea trial had us at 2700/2650 WOT) I need to get some pitch taken out of the factory props this winter

there are not a ton of options locally, so I’m hoping there is a good shop where I can send them and get it right on the first try.
