It is just a Whit 24” LG TV it is mounted on a post just behind the drivers seat. I could go bigger, but i did not want the TV to be overbearing in the cockpit. Great for catching games and the news in the morning while other sleep.
Headed to the boat shortly armed with this contraption to find my fresh water leak once and for all. Going to pressurize each line one by one, it should show up pretty quickly I think
schrader valve on the T with the gauge and a 15mm push fitting on the other end
edit: so far the entire cold side holds 45psi for 15 minutes.
hot leaks down 1psi per minute or so from 45. Isolating the individual lines now. I had incorrectly ruled out the hot side previously. This reinforces how important it is to have a test plan and follow it with crap like this

It’s always something stupid:
the hot water heater is leaking. I didn’t check it close enough because the water was going into the center bilge but it’s leaking underneath, going into the void behind where it’s mounted, chasing down the port side of the hull, and running forward into that compartment by traveling along the inboard port stringer.
once I isolated it I put my head back there and sure enough, all wet.
it also explains why I didn’t get antifreeze during winterizing - the damn thing was bypassed.

If you don't already have a source, Defender marine has all manner or water heaters in stock. It's where I got my Kuuma a few weeks back. Lots of options...

just ordered the kuuma! Can’t beat the price. SS would be nice but I could buy 3 of these for the price of 1
Ours is pretty easy to get out, I just have to pull the port exhaust tube and I’ll have plenty of room. It’s located just aft of the port fuel tank. I’m going to disconnect it today and get it out so I can dry the area really well and clean up around it. Defender usually ships to us quick so with any luck we’ll be back in business by the weekend.
Well, it’s out. Deceiving though, it was not as easy as I thought it might be.
I took the exhaust off as planned but ended up having to remove the outer square shell on the water heater and then finding the perfect angle to slide the tank out.
it will make getting the new one in quite interesting and I will have to disassemble it as well. I want to avoid removing the engine riser if at all possible, there is a bunch of plumbing attached to it and it’s extremely heavy.
the old one is really nasty. The insulation was soaked and I’m sure the inside has a ton of buildup. Will be nice to have a new one
anyone else replaced their HWH on a diesel powered 410? Wondering if there was some magic angle to avoid having to take the exhaust off

It’s in the STBD aft of the generator on the 400 diesel. Doesn’t look fun either but at least ya can take off some of the flooring on that side.
jeez, aft!? They must have pushed the Genny forward on the 400 there’s no chance it would fit behind ours

Did you pick out a replacement unit yet? For what its worth - the Kuuma is a nice model, but its held together with rivets and the mounting bracket is welded to the tank - so that adds to the complexity of getting it back into its spot, and flipping/turning it over/around to get all the rivets back in. Some of the other units have the small 1/4” machine screws holding it together. Either way its some work putting it back together where it came from.
crap, yea i went for the kuuma but I couldn’t get a good picture of the casing so I gambled on the fasteners. Maybe I’ll drill the rivets out and reassemble with the screws from the old unit.
the existing has the mounts welded on as well but they’re front and back so didn’t cause too much hassle.

Mark beat me to it. The Kuuma is definitely riveted. And lot's of 'em. It would break my heart to have to do that much drilling on a brand new tank

Lot's of room in there with our daitny engines! And the removable floor piece is just about worthless, it ends too far forward to help with the water heater situation.

Ugh yea it’s going to suck but it’s already on the way and I really don’t want to take the riser off that engine.
I ordered the gaskets, hoses, and clamps just in case. Just a quick $200 for that stuff

Its not that bad of a job to drill the rivets out and go through the reassembly. Check and double-check that all the rivets are out, the holes are clean, and the rivets you have fit in every hole (both pieces of aluminum). I believe some of the holes are slightly different, and some need the backing piece drilled out. Simply put the case together on the workbench and start stuffing rivets in and you’ll see what I’m talking about. Its a nice unit, and I’m very happy with mine - even with the rivet process.
I appreciate that! Definitely plan on doing the hard part on the bench once so I know my plan ahead of time

Mount it between the engines and use it as a step to get into the bilge. If you want to dress it up, put a piece of aluminum diamond plate on top of it.
Also considering that after I saw you mention you did it on yours. We already have a step from the factory but it's actually removed right now so I could get to the forward bilge pump and do some hose replacements. Obviously just have to extend power and water lines but that wouldn't be too difficult

Looking forward to the weekend here! My boat got pulled yesterday to get the new platform installed. She should be back in the water today, ready to rock. I do hope this install makes me happy. My primary concern is the Hurley extension making the whole thing look weird since it's not centered. Worst case, it should make a fine perch for my morning coffees....
I guess the other question mark is performance. I look forward to sharing with you guys how this gas powered pig does with an extra 400lbs strapped out back...
