Yep, I read that post on that but cannot remember

Considering adding bridge air. Not primarily for cooling but more so for heat early and late season. Whats everyone's opinion on using the overboard waste discharge as a pickup for the new AC unit. I know we can never use the overboard based on where we boat but thinking about resale.
My 506 has 6 A/C units four of which are supplied by one pump so I would think it would be best to just add the circuit to your existing system. You may find that the pump you are using will have plenty of flow already. Ill take a look at my pumps and see if there is a flow rate listed on the data tag and post for you to compare.

I have AC on the bridge. The pump is 1200 gph with a manifold going to all three units. I ran all three units on a hot day with 70 degree water and had no problems. I was surprised how well the bridge unit cools it down.

That’s good to know. Thanks!

I was wondering how well a built in ac would work in the bridge in hot and humid areas like in Florida where I am. I tried the biggest portable I could get which was marked as a 14k BTU and it ran nonstop during the daytime and did not make enough difference worth keeping it. And when it ran all day it was with the bridge stairs hatch closed and the hot air discharge run through unzipped corner of one of the side isinglass panels and towel stuffed around discharge hose to seal gaps. Even tried running a couple smaller fans to help more quickly circulate the air around.
I imagine had I hung some kind of tinted panels inside the clear ones to block sun and uv coming in it would have been fine but hard to drive boat like that lol.

A few years back I had Quox, and Cool Boats, both from Mystic, CT come aboard to give a quote for bridge AC. Consensus was my pump would be adequate but each indicated that the best I could hope for would be about -10 degrees from outside ambient temp, on a sunny day. Green-house effect on bridge from Macrolon glass significantly diminishes effectiveness. Obviously, it would perform better at night and when cloudy. Neither thought the end would justify the means, so I decided not to make the investment. Back then it was around $10-$12K for a unit which would be installed in my starboard side bridge cabinet, fully plumbed using existing pump. I think it was a 16K unit but it may have been slightly larger. Interesting that some have bridge AC as factory option and it seems to work well. ???

The cap will be tight and you might need to take a long screwdriver/hammer to tap it counterclockwise to loosen it then can be removed by hand. If you have been using NoFlex, the odor and gunk will be very minimal….

Had same issue a fews years back. Removed sensor and cleaned. Simple fix. I occasionally flush tank with fresh water (from pump out location) while pump out boat stands by. There's a potential for sludge to build up in the tank over time and it's best to stay proactive. Best way to ensure tanks is fully clean is to fill with fresh water then go off shore and legally dump overboard. (From local Dometic dealer).

Nice job, I don’t think there is a better lift for the cost and ease of use. I made lanyards for the pins as I’m sure I would drop one in the drink.

Thanks. Electric winch is a must though. After one try with manual I ordered. Much better for 400# dinghy. Overall I'm pleased. $5K plus was not too bad and much less than other options. Sits very well on boat and stable under way. Hurley.jpg Rear view.JPG

The other end is in the Bilge behind the ladder. It is to the left of the DC panel on the bulkhead wall. There is also a breaker for the system monitor on the DC panel incase you need to disable the system. It is labeled. Mine was acting up so I unplugged the coax and harness and reattached. I keep looking at the display expecting to see the data link failed, but it’s been good for a few week now….knock on wood.

While I disconnected the coax on both ends and replaced connections on bridge, I did not unplug the harness from module. Going to give it a try tonight. Wish I read this more closely when you first posted.

I've been battling with this for a few months now. Monitor works for about an hour before the error message "Data Link Failure Alarm System Offline." Understanding that the systems monitor display could be malfunctioning/overheating, I located a brand new one with hopes replacement would resolve issue. I replaced, ran boat for about an hour, and had alarm again. Last time out I bypassed the coax cable running a new one from the bilge to the bridge. Ran for about 1.25 hours and got error message once again. I called Sea-Ray (good number to have (865) 971-6415) and spoke with a tech who was very familiar with issue. He said could be one of three things. Display (Which I replaced), Coax cable (Which I bypassed), and Interface Module in engine room (I am currently looking to source one). Sea Ray PN 1907587. I checked all usual sources. Ended up determining Sea-Ray has had on back-order for about 1.5 months so I could have any day from local dealer. However, does anyone have a line on a used one? I would be interested! Thanks.

I am having the same issue. I unplugged the coax in the bilge to no avail. Getting to the back of the unit on the dash is a pain, but that is next. The harness you speak of....is it in the bilge or the backside of the display? Thanks!

System monitor at helm is held in place with 2 nuts. Smaller and you will need deep socket but not that bad. Once pulled you have the coax and fives wires which plug into same color wires nearby. I clipped and put new connectors on all but didn't make a difference.

The harness itself is on the bilge end at the module, mounted just left of the breaker panel. The other end of the coax from bridge screws into to lower left bottom. The larger harness plug itself is located bottom center. For ease of access remove your engine room ladder then pull module from wall (4 screws) to access harness plug. It is held in with a screw which you will need to remove to pull the plug from the unit. I guess clean with contact cleaner and cross your fingers. I'm going to try same. For me, if that does not work then it's definitely the module.

I have the same going on, data link failure on the systems alarm . I posted it some where on here a few weeks ago. I will try unplugging and plugging it back if I can find it.
We are still in the middle of a complete electronics up grade , cannot wait till its done.

I still have the Systems Monitor module I removed when I scraped and replaced the entire system.
Welcome to try it - if it fixes the issue you can pay what you think it is worth.

I am replacing diesel view with raymarine mfd's. That should not affect the system monitor should it? My electronics guy is beginning to worry me.

Totally separate systems; the only thing in common they both get their power from the same batteries.....
What is your plan to get Smartcraft data that Diesel View uses readable on the Ray MFD's? This is not a simple plug and play......

Mighty kind of you Tom! I will plug/unplug and see what happens. Thanks!

my installer said he can do it, however he hasn't done it yet. no doubt it beyond me figuring it out.

Water under port engine For the last couple of months I have noticed water collecting under the port engine. Back in the early spring I had oil coolers removed from both engines and had the cores replaced. I am guessing that the water is coming from one of the O rings or gaskets involved in the cooler. However I cant find it. It is very diificult to access this area. Im looking for any ideas either to help confirm my suspicion or perhaps the leak could be something else that I havent thought of yet? They are Cummins qsc engines. I have confidence in the mechanic who performed the service but acknowledge he was in a very difficult position putting it all back together on the port side.

I'd love to know how that goes. A second VHF w/AIS would fit nicely where the bridge diesel view is located.
