420/44 DB Owners Club

Spoke with my canvas guy today and of course he hasn’t started yet. Going with your 3 panel layout. Now I have to take the top down so he change to 3 zippers instead of 5.
Thanks again for sharing
Zipper should be separate from the top canvas no? At least that’s how ours is setup.

I had the flir installed also, along with a aft facing camera. We also updated radar and installed a 12” and 9” axiom with a vessel view 7.03. Now if my installer ever gets everything going I will be happy. The cameras, radar works fine. However the installer struggling with engine and generator info. I assume it will be spring now since my boat was winterized last week. We do not have anyone here close that is electronic savy.

Check this video from Raymarine on Engine/Axiom interfacing.

My next project…

I recommend making the upper 3 windows separate from the lower 3 in the pic below, this will allow you much better access to clean all windows.

Does anyone have info on the make up of the transom of our model (04) in particular. Trying to see if there is any wood in the coring. Spoke to Sea Ray but not sure I got what I was looking for. They pretty much said no, but yes.

I asked the same question a while back. My 2007 has no wood in the transom so it would make sense that since we have the same models just different years that yours would be the same.
With that said, what I do have is where the GHS Hydraulic lift bracket bolts go through the transom/underside of swim platform wood was used to distribute the stress of the bolts on the fiberglass across a broader area.

Thanks for the info. Same lift and all that was used on my supports are large washers.

So I assume no wood in transom. Has either one drilled the transom ? If so what u see?
The way I see it on my 06 no wood core. But my opinion worthless! What u fellas think!

The hull isn’t cored at all, it’s solid glass. The decks on the other hand are - They used a product called Spherecore.
That’s must be where I misunderstood. The deck composition makes sense. Thanks!

Your welcome ;-) .. Thankfully Spherecore is a fibreglass product and not wood …

I’m thinking of installing an inverter just for the tv and blue ray player. Any recommendations on an inverter and mounting location.

I went through a number of cheap inverters then found these guys: www.kisaepower.com/market/marine-power/.

I put two SL1204 units, one in the salon cabinet at the bottom where the TV is (where the access to the air conditioner is). Upper right side of the cabinet so I can still remove the access hatch easily. I put another one in the cabinet behind the TV in the salon, wired to a new breaker panel in the closet beside.

Available wiring is marginal. I plan to run larger gauge feeds to both this coming summer.

They have worked well for two seasons so far. I get low voltage alarms when the batteries start to dip due to voltage drop in the 12V feeds. I have monitored these feeds for heat under the full load demanded of the inverters and there is none at all.

I think lower cabinet near ac access is a good spot and yes an automatic transfer switch. I’m considering using the 24 volt thruster batteries. Thanks for the contact info will check them out. I thought I would see them but doesn’t look like winter boat shows are going to happen this year.
