I am wanting to replace my DVD player in the salon. What is the best way to access the inside of that cabinet?

Has anyone here removed it?

I replaced the DVD under warranty 2 years ago (DVD warranty not Sea Ray). I'll have to try and remember how I did it but it may require a visit to the boat, which won't happen till next weekend at the earliest. I do recall it wasn't a difficult access and didn't take long to do.

Thanks. Would definitely appreciate pointers...

Also, anyone here have the Bose 5.1 system? I would LOVE a picture of how/where they mount the speakers and subwoofer. Thinking about adding one to ours...

Still trying to figure out how to remove the DVD player.

I took out the panel (behind the doors) above the DVD that holds the Clarion stereo system. That gives access above the DVD player, but the unit is firmly mounted under a large board and I cannot figure out how it can be removed...

I seem to remember the DVD was held in with velcro strips....though I could be mistaken. Can you see any mounting screws from above or below? If not, it may be velcro on the bottom.

No mounting screws that I could see. Velcro makes sense, but would present a real problem as the DVD is sandwiched between two boards. Not much room to pull the velcro loose...

My set up is slightly different, but probably the same mounting technique. I swapped my DVD player early on, but as I recall, I found the velcro underneath the unit. I then got the longest bbq spatula I could find, flattened the bend out of it. (I ended up needing 2). I carefully inserted the metal between the two layers of velcro and the unit slid out. I repeated the process (in reverse) for the new unit install. Use something as a "feeler" guage beneath the unit and see if you can locate the velcro (fasteners?)

Bingo!!! That's how I did it, however, I used two metal shim plates that I had left over from a turbine alignment job. You can get those at Home Depot pretty cheaply ($3 each) or from GE Nuclear at $1000 each.

Very, very timely. I plan to replace mine as soon as I get things going on it. It's arriving by truck tomorrow am. Then, we have to re-assemble it, then, service, then, bottom job, then Sea Ray upgrades, then go boating, then, think about my own upgrades.

I plan to get a DVD player with RF remote so I can wire it to several TVs and control it from any area.

Nice part is that the buttons (for when the remote is AWOL) are on the top of the bottom ledge on the faceplate. Very nice for "low mounted" devices...
