Hey just curious if anyone with a 44 Sundancer has ever had the light bulb/s go out on the overhead light in the cabin/galley? Mine has never worked since I bought the boat and I've never missed it, though I'm thinking it's probably an easy fix that I could handle and would add more light? Has anybody had experience changing these bulbs and is it pretty straight forward?
thanks!
Jason

sure an easy fix.
#1 Check to see if the line of lights this fixture is in is eiother 12Vdc or 110ac. do this by turning off all 12V breakers and turn on light switch. if it comes on it's the ac side.
#2 Pull down on the chrome bezel (watch out as it comes out. it is spring loaded and the arms snap back fast and hard). then you should find the light housing held in place by 2 small springs. unclip them, and pull the bulb out.
#3 check the type of bulb needed in your Sea Ray boat manual (should be a halogen, 10amp)
#4 replace bulb, hook housing to bezel, hold arms up and slip back into the ceiling.

Make sure you dont touch the bulb with your fingers when you replace it.. It kills the life span.... Good luck do what the other person said it works... I used a credit card to help get it away from celling... Good luck...

Hey Guys thanks for your help and advice on this I appreciate it!! I'll give it a try. And Rich I love your new yacht it's beautiful!!!!

I replaced my MR16 halogens with MR16 LED bulbs, a lot less heat and much less power draw.

I have been trying to do the same Todd. Have you found a source that has a reasonably priced bulb that doesn't give a "green" tint to the lights? Warm white (which seems to be the closest to the halogens) seems to make the cherry wood look more like maple than cherry. Cool white is way too stark. Any links or sources you can provide will be appreciated. I did change out cockpit lights (blue), anchor lights and so forth but have not been happy with salon LED replacements. Thanks.
