Thanks Mike. I’ll order them tomorrow. I’ve been off the radar for a short time and just now catching up on posts

I recently added bridge air in my 98 480 sedan bridge and i am searching for a bridge hatch? Any thoughts or advice on obtaining one would be appreciated.

Hi Russ,

I know my boat is different, but I had mine rebuilt in 2018. Seals were all brittle and began leaking. My ram was OK - no salt water corrosion.

Mine is behind my genny, and it was “fun” to get out...

Have the same boat.. No bridge Air. What did you do? How many units and where?
They can install inside the helm on the starboard side. Need to run power and water lines. I have a manifold with four lines coming off of it. My discharge runs down to engine room and out starboard side.

I don't know how to start a new question on this forum, so I apologize for jumping in on this one. I have the QSM-11 engines on my boat. Can someone tell me which EGT gauge to get and where to get it? Thank you.

I originally bought an analog kit from SBMAR.com but have since converted mine to NMEA 2K using a Maretron temp sensor and probes.

My mechanic just got my port engine put back together after digging into the dreaded manifold leak. What I assumed was just the standard leak turned out to be a blown out gasket on #6 which was puffing soot back behind everything. We machined the manifold at my shop and my mechanic did the aftercoolers, heat exchangers, replaced hoses, replaced the coolant circulation pump and we also replaced the turbo. It was put back together using the latest service bulletin and spacer recommendations.

We sea trialed on Saturday with 3/4 fuel, 6 adults and 5 kids, no dinghy. I had one cup # removed over the winter and am very happy with my numbers.

2000 RPM
38 GPH
62% load
930 EGT
20.5 knots

Going to watch to make sure the leak doesn't reoccur then will do the STBD side next winter.

Thank you Quality Time. I'm not sure what NMEA 2K is, but I'll ask around.
Ranger Mike,

NMEA 2000 is the latest communication protocol. Sets up a data pipeline that is pretty much "plug n play" replaced an older protocol called NMEA0183.

Sort of like setting up a router and connecting all your computers to a network.

Any of you cat 3196 guys have any numbers? I had my props done and I am wondering if I need any cup taken out. I am barely reaching max WOT of 2300 and I used to get about 2325ish. Also my Load at 1800rpm is 82% but my math says that should be 1886rpm. So I think I need to do something with my props. Any help would be great.

Not a CAT guy but I originally took an inch of pitch out and have since removed cup twice for finer tuning. My WOT load is mid 80's.

Thanks for your response Steve. I know pretty much how to set up the Modem/Router/computer/printer/and other wifi connected stuff. If I get the Maretron system, do you know if the installation instructions are simple and clear enough for the average person (me?) to install?

Mike,

Here is a link to West Marine and a Garmin NMEA starter kit. You need to create a "Backbone" which is nothing more than a cable with connectors. The "backbone" must have power (Yellow cable) and simply plugs in and you twist the cover to lock it in position. Then connect a black cable from a connector to your device (anything from a gauge to a chartplotter, Fusion radio, VHF radio etc). Take another cable and plug it into your Maretron sensor and a connector.

https://www.westmarine.com/buy/garmin--nmea-2000-starter-kit--19549062?recordNum=8

That's the basics of setting up a NMEA2000 system. The devices will find each other and talk to one another automatically.

I put in a NMEA2000 system in my 340DA. Hooked up a Fusion entertainment radio, a Garmin chartplotter and VHF. Turned them on and they worked. The radio got map co-ordinates for the Emergency button and the chartplotter could operate the Fusion from the helm.

I think your numbers look good. The slight difference in your top end could easily be a dirty bottom. I ran mine WOT a couple weeks ago and topped out at 2325. I had full tanks and only half tank of water. My bottom is clean. I cannot get that in mid summer when the bottom growth makes its appearance. I get 2290ish. Save your money and run what you have.

Keith,
Next time out can you pull the load and speed numbers for: 1750, 1850, 2000rpm. I just want to see if they are roughly the same. My boat has a diver on it monthly so bottom is always clean.

If you have no intentions of doing future NMEA 2000 equipment I wouldn't bother just for EGT readings. I would just get a bundled analog kit like the one from SBMAR.com even though you will still need to run wires from the bridge to the engine room. I only went that route because I already had a NMEA backbone in the ER plus lots of other equipment on the network.
