Hi all. I recently had my starboard engine replaced with a now one. Now sometimes when docking, the engine stalls going into reverse. Of course the power steering is on this engine and shifting into neutral for a restart can't be easily or quickly done. Once clear of the dock, my wife and I can gently wiggle the shifter and engine cables to reset the shifter to neutral. The stalled engine immediately restarts. Since my shop had replaced the engine, I have suspected that some connection may be loose. This Bravo II does not have the shift interrupt device. I have looked and so far found nothing loose. Anyone with suggestions is welcome to chime in. Thanks.

I am not a mechanic. That said… maybe micro switch is bad. You say a B2 doesn’t have it. I never heard that.

Trying to derail another thread???

As to the original issue, sound like two problems.
1. Stalling. Could be a bad IAC VALVE. What year is this boat?

2. Shift cable may need adjustment as it sound like it’s not going back into neutral properly and you are manually fiddling with the linkage.

Are the rpm's of both engines the same when shifting?

This was one of the last carbureted engines. Thunderbolt ignition with a Mercury 350 cubic inch engine of 250 hp. No IAC. But will check the idle engine rpm.

I had this issue once on an alpha drive with carb engine, need you being the lower shift cable
