76 SRV 200 Project

Ok disregard the sending unit post! I took itout cleaned it up and cleaned the contact point for the sending wire and ground. hooked it up and manually moved it up and down, works fine. Its off a bit, shows just a bit below full, and exactly empty on the guage. Thats close enough for me!

IT's been a long time since posting so I figured I should update everyone as to what I have been doing lately.

I dug into the wiring and ended up replacing a good portion on the connectors and replaced and wires that had been cut/spliced.
Built myself a makeshift engine cover and then took her to a local marina, big mistake! Long story short 5 weeks later I pulled the boat from their property with nothing more than the gimbal bearing replace and the hole tapped for the new shift cable. In the process however we found that the upper unit was practically toast. The gear are all mangled. I ended up finding a new outdrive. Alligned the engine and installed it last weekend.

After I was done with that project I finally got to try to start 'er up. Yet another failure (fully expected). Found my carb rebuild kit that I had bougth last year and rebuilt the carb last night.

My list of things that I am aware of that remain:
Install the carb, adjust and hopefully we will be running!
Replace thermostat
Fuel Filter
Oil change (Engine/Outdrive)
Carpet
Seats
I also need to fabricate a few interior panels, but they aren't top priority... yet!

So how was carb to rebuild? Might do mine this fall/winter just for the heck of it.
Sounds like just a good couple of days ahead and you will be ready for water.

Actually, it was my second one ever. Last one was when I was 17 on my second car.

With that said, it was pretty easy. Took me about 2hrs. The kit I bought did not have a gasket for between the intake and the carb. It took me about 30 minutes to set the float, I had a hard time figuring out how to bend it to get both measurements. But beyond that watch out for the little balls. and be careful when you remove the one under the metering rods it has a T shaped retainer and the spring took off on me when I pulled it out!

Mine had about 3 tablespoons of water in it, the idle needles were rusted and the metering rods were pretty nasty. I cleaned it all up the best I could and hopefully I'll get a break in the rain here to try and get it running on Sunday.

I am hoping to splash next weekend. At least enough to check everything out and find out whats next to fix!
