I keep the boat in the water year around here in Southwest Florida. I run the salon a/c in the humidity cycle when not using the boat. I have always had growth in the strainer, so I started using bromine tablets. This worked, but a marine refrigeration tech told me a neat trick. Put a couple of pieces of copper tubing in the A/C strainer basket to eliminate growth. Just checked the basket after several months and it was clear.

Yep, so I've heard since being in saltwater for a few months. Also was told Chore boy copper scouring pads work good too. Fun to learn the saltwater ways that I have missed being a "laker" all my life.
