For various reasons, we have been unable to enjoy our boat for the past 6 months-namely my dad’s declining health and our kids. It had been 6 months today since we last pumped out the holding tank. Every couple of weeks I would stop by to check on things and add a scoop or two of “Carter’s Poopy Powder” to the holding tank. No smell when flushing, in the cabin/cockpit/dock, no smell whatsoever-anywhere. NoFlex Digestor and Carter’s version of it has to be one of my favorite miracles of boating.

I used it in a slop sink lift pump we have in our basement (the basement is below the sewer so gravity wouldn’t work)

we don’t put anything too grotesque down there but normal use, paint brushes, washing hands, rinsing vacuum and carpet shampooer, etc.

As soon as I put a couple tablespoons into the pump it started foaming. I left it overnight and the next day flushed it with clean water, it was like it was never used.

I’ve always suspected that sort of reaction was occurring in the holding tank but to see it in action was cool.

I haven’t had a single odor in the boat since I started using it….

I don’t use any of those additives. Been peeing and pooping into our two toilets for nine years if ownership. Never have had any smell of any kind. I change the vent filter every couple of years. I did replace all the hoses a few years ago at the 20 year mark. So I’m wondering what’s the source of the odors some notice. Old hoses maybe?
