Access to Stuffing Box to adjust for a leak

I have a 1999 Sea Ray 420 Aft Cabin. It's been only 2 years since my last bottom job/stuffing box packing. One shaft is leaking the appropriate amount, while another is quite a bit more than 'normal'. I need to tighten the nut some on the leaking one, but, having difficulty getting access. The 'small' removable access hatch in the aft cabin is very difficult to get to the nuts to adjust. Any tips on how to make this possible would be much appreciated! Do you do it through the removable hatch or is there another route? Also, what tool/wrench do you typically use? The boat is 'in water' at the marina. Thanks!!!

I will be watching your replies. I was told you take the bed apart which accesses what you are looking for but don't go to the bank on it. Congrats on your purchase and hope someone has the answer. Take care.

New Horizon, i was able to correct the problem this weekend through the small access panel in the bedroom floor. Wasn't easy, but i got it. The lock nut i was able to loosen pretty easily. I sprayed it first with some PBBlaster lubricant and let it set a few minutes, then with a small hammer was able to tap the lock nut and it loosened. It is reverse thread, so that's key. After getting the lock nut off, i took a small tool i purchased at Harbor Freight (looked like a pair of vicegrips with a small chain on the end. only has like a 6inch handle so i could fit it inside the compartment. the chain on the tool will fit around up to 6"). It only took about 1/4 turn of the nut to stop the leak. Now it doesn't leak while parked, and dripping the appropriate amounts while the shaft is turning.
