Wouldn't that mean that you would have to turn on the windlass' relay each time you wanted to blow your own horn? I think you will have to run another power wire with an appropriate fuse.

Paid you check the wiring schematics in the manual, you may find a spare accessory wire that you could use. Just make sure it is an appropriate gauge.

Isn't the power already the previous horn? Is the power draw from the compressor too much for that wire?

if so, you can put the compressor anywhere. Place the compressor under the dash as close to the switch as possible (lessens current loss) and run the air hose to where ever you need to.

What he said.

I read it as the compressor power draw being too much for the horn wiring, otherwise the post is pointless.

While I haven't run tubing from an air horn compressor, I would imagine a wire would be a bit easier to pull than tubing. I would defer to some poor soul who has actually done it. That is going to be a hack of a run either way (why the OP asked the original question, I am sure).

OK then. If the red wire is hot always, then your method will work. Otherwise, you will have to leave the windlass energized underway.

One me thing to consider is the noise being muffled in the locker, or what will the horn sound like coming out of a locker.

have you considered Origo electric air trumpets?

horn is all in one small unit not much bigger than stock horn so i will mount in same spot.when i said get power from windlass i meant that junction box that has big wire looks like it comes from engine bay.i was going to tap into that and run 10 gauge with 30 amp inline fuse to relay that came with horn then run wire from dash switch to same relay.

someone here on the site (on the potomac in DC) has installed a air horn inside the anchor locker. Search for air horn threads.
