AirBus A380

I can hardly wait until they put it on the New York to Orlando route and all of those people try to get on their kids. What a zoo.

Seems like he floated the landing a little bit? Isn't there a couple of resident pilots to analyze his landing? Seems to have dropped her down after the float. This comes from a NOVICE aviation buff. That plane is cool since it's soo big but I gotta stick with the home team and our good ol' 747-400.

That plane is great. Very comfortable, very quiet. I went on a flight from CDG to JFK. You don't feel any turbulence. I highly recommend it.
I think it has an extra 20 feet of wingspan on either side compared to the 747.

Double-decker jet. How cool is that...
How is the boarding and de-planing handled without an hour wait? Do they flip a coin to see who gets out first- upper or lower deck?

Up to 800+ passengers depending on the configuration :smt101

All I know is you want to be the first off that plane.

800 people hitting immigration at one time. . .yikers!

It's certified for 800 passengers, but so far no one has taken one with greater than 535 pax (3 class) configuration. The current 747-400 seats 435 and the new 747-8 will seat 475.

Airbus is still having production problems and they delivered 13 last year. They are hoping to get 18 out the door this year and be producing 2 per month by 2011. They are mainly going to the middle eastern airlines (Emirates), Qantas, and Singapore Airlines so far. Ones or twos to Air France, British Airways, and Lufthansa.

No US orders yet...

yeah, that's farging huge. I hope to see one fly over when I'm out in the harbor. You feel like you can reach up and touch them.

The fuselage is built in my home town: Hamburg, Germany

Hey Alex,

Was in your beautiful home town last week - global warming is killing them there too - the lake is frozen over for the first time in 15 years!

Scott's correct - UPS and FedEx ordered the freighter version, which was cancelled (or maybe delayed for a loooong time) by both.

I'm going to have to change my signature picture - it's making me sick to look at it with the snow on the ground outside (I finally have "connected" with you "Yankee" boaters ;-). And I'm sick too thinking about Alex and the other's with collapsed marina roofs.
