I have a new to me 2003/280 dancer and at random times when i get to cruising speer we have a alarm go off.
oit,water dash stuff all ok.
Power down to a stop and wait a few min. and it goes away and mostly stays away. May at time have to shut down twice??

i'm guessing oil?

I’m going to assume you have analog gauges and not Mercury smartcraft digital gauges.

If the oil pressure is fine and the engine temp is fine via the gauges at the dash, the next two things to check are the level of outdrive oil in the reservoir (that little clear bottle at the front, top right corner of the engine) to make sure it’s not too low and check for water in your bilge.

Regarding water in your bilge, there are two white rectangular float switches in the center of the engine compartment between the fuel tank and the engine(s). When the water raises the float inside the float switch the round red rule bilge pumps come on. One switch is mounted directly on top of the other. You can test them by turning a little white knob on the side.
The lower switch will turn on one pump. The higher switch will turn on both pumps plus activate a alarm at the helm.

Other than those four items (oil pressure, engine temperature, level of oil in the drive oil reservoir and water in the bilge) I don’t think there are any other alarms on the analog system other then the CO detector inside the cabin up by the forward V birth.

Please complete your signature and include your engine / drive set up and your locatoin.

Please post a follow up post letting us know if this is what you find.

Sounds like the CO2 monitor, which is in the cabin. I would never do it, but unplug the thing!! Actually, unplug only during the day, plug it in whenever at anchor or running your genset.

NO WAY!!!!

I have NEVER had mine go off in error!!! Running or not, door open or closed. Find the source and fix it!

Recently had a similar problem in my 2005, the smartcraft was showing low oil pressure. I have to replace the sending unit. But turning off/on the engine fixed (maybe temporarily) the problem. You said the oil looks fine (do you mean the pressure... or fluid)?

Sometimes my depth finder gets confused when at cruise. It can't find bottom goes to 0 ft and beeps. I think it is my depth alarm telling me I'm in shallow water. If I slow or stop the depth finder starts working and the alarm goes away. This is Smartcraft, I don't know if that's what you have.
