alternator trouble

I have a new 205 sport. only 13 hours and we had a problem with the alternator. the red (orange) grounding wire? was burnt and disconnected at the alternator end. the rubber cover protector crumbled at the touch. has anyone out there had the same experience or are we the 2-3% that it just happens to?

Is it a fusible link wire? U may have a grounding issue somewhere that caused it to do that
