Hello, I am new to the site and was looking for information on the location of the factory amp and wire run for the 2006 260 dancer premium system. I have the clarion head unit speakers and tweeters. This sounds good but really needs a amp and sub. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, B. Noble

The head unit is located over entrance to the mid-berth. They put the FM/AM antena in behind there all bunched up. Had to fix that.

The dvd audio/video cables run overhead through the cabin to the TV location. Uggg...

The wiring harness runs in chase way from behind the head unit, down the port side behind the main electrical panel and into the bilge area. Should be a hole bored there, right at the outer most edge.

I have not confirmed it, but the amp should be located behind the access panel in the mid-birth on the stbd side. Where you'd service the AC from...

I'm also interested in a good way to run the outputs to an amp and subwoofer.

I have a different boat, but I just added a new head unit, sub, component speakers, and 2 amps to mine. The head unit (radio) should have RCA pre-outs (the red and white cable hookups) in the back. If not, your factory amp may have some outputs too. If neither has them you need to get an amp with a high-level input ( you basically plug the speaker wires into the amp) It's best to use RCA's though. For me the toughest part was running the 12v wires to the amp. It took 8 gauge wire, and from west marine that stuff runs about 10 bucks a foot. per wire. You need + and -, can't just ground to the frame like a car.

It was worth it though, what a difference 1,000 watts makes!

$10 pr ft? OUCH Crutchfield sells Marine grade 2ga power and ground wire for $2 pr ft. You would then run to a distribution block to get it down to whatever input the amp excepts. The Alpine amps I'm using in my car are available in marine grade and they accept 4ga inputs.

Sorry - i wasn't thinking of the right thing. The wire was 3 per foot, I needed 15 feet x 2 wires x $3 = 90.00 for the wire. Then the connectors for the battery post and amp. It was about 100 bucks for the whole deal. I must have been thinking about the RCA's or somethin. Still - the wires add up quick :smt089

Thanks for the info. I hope I get everything wired properly. I would like to keep it as close to factory specs as possible. The MOMO sub and amp seem like a good choice they certainly are proud of that stuff, not cheap.
