A few pictures of the "shredding" would probably help us better get an idea of what you're talking about. BUT, if you're not seeing any obvious "catch points" it could just be old and in need of cutting off/re-splicing, swap end-for-end or just replace. Could have been damaged from something on the bottom, too.

..or also could be slipping on a capstan. Not a fan of free fall anchor deployment especially on cruising boats so not familiar with that unit.

The good thing about a free fall you know when the anchor has hit bottom before you start paying out the scope

Good is a good windlass, you have to replace with their line only, no other will work. My guess, nothing wrong with windlass, just line getting old.

I have a 1995 Sundancer 330DA and my anchor line is shredding approx 4 in from the connection point of the anchor. I have looked where the line crosses the roller on the bottom of the windless rail and on the top roller as well and there appears to be no sharp points, has anyone else experienced this as well ? Here is the windless im using.

Any help is appreciated.
Are you talking about chafing ("shredding") the actual spliced area of the rope? That is about 4"-8" below the eye of the rope? If so, consider that the diameter of the rope at that point is at least 1.5 times larger than the diameter of the line itself and if it enters your windlass housing, it make be chafing on the sides of the housing due to the increased diameter.

In the "for what it's worth" column - in 2020 I had a dock neighbor mention some chaffing I was getting at/near my anchor splice. I planned to fix it that fall/winter. It was two weeks after that comment that my splice let go while I was anchored at a beach.

Don't be me - get that sucker fixed ASAP.

I had to shorten and re-splice my line shorty after getting the boat. The first few feet are exposed to the sun continuously and was degrade much more than the portion that stays in the locker usually.
