I did a search but found nothing regarding newer anchor design. Yesterday while at the Newport Boat Show I came upon a company selling stainless anchors. I have to say, the shiny stuff always catches my eye. Upon further investigation they were demonstrating on a small scale the differences between their anchor and others. I was intrigued by the distance to set their anchor and how the anchor rights itself when dropped to the seabed. The anchor was made by ULTRA. I was ready to sign up until I asked for the price. A 26lbs. Anchor to fit my boat was close to, wait for it, $1300.00. Holy #%it! I would probably sit down and cry if lost an anchor that cost that much. There was also a company there selling the ROCNA anchor and that was more reasonably priced in a galvanized version. My question is this, has anyone purchased and currently using one of these on their boat? If so, are you satisfied with the performance characteristics of these newer designs?
