If so I’m selling two of my Colts. A Colt Cowboy, mint condition with a cowboy rig. Nickel with bone grips. All matching numbers. Next is a Colt Army, excellent condition for her age. Ivory grips. Matching numbers.

I know we have others that collect here. These two are for serious collectors. I’m requesting letters from Colt and the two are being appraised. I wanted to offer them here with the SeaRay family first. They may end up with Colt to be sold by them. PM me if you’d like a photo. Thanks folks.

Due to Maryland arcane laws I cant/wont buy cartridge pistols.
Requires classes, training, fees, background checks, insurance, etc.. A real PITA. I will stick with my black powder revolvers which require no permits of any kind.
Good luck with the sale. If you put on Gunbroker, let me know the item numbers so I can watch the auction.
I didnt stay out much yesterday, the bar gets mobbed on Fridays by noon, and I get out of there, dont like loud crowds.
PS. Just FYI, most states require a seller to ship to a FFL dealer, not directly to the buyer. And USPS will not ship any firearms at all. Must use UPS or Fedex. I sure there is information on their webites.

PL, both are from the 1800’s The Army is paper cartridge. The SAA is early brass.

Both are collection guns.

Ok, i got the impression they were 2nd gen from the 50’s. Dont know why.
Those original Colts are way out of my price range and I wouldn’t want to put them thru the usage mine get (Uberti reproductions).
Im sure they will bring a nice cash amount.
One question, are you sure the SAA is an original Colt? To my knowledge, Colt never made brass frames, but Im no expert.

Yes, It’s called a Cowboy. That’s the hard to find handgun. Let me post a photo of it.

That’s the problem I’m having. The shop has it up in the 6g range. With one selling in the 8g area. That’s the reason I may just keep her or let Colt sell her. I’ve got to pull my book and see what dad had her at before he passed

A gun is worth what someone will pay. I know that sounds stupid but its true. Estimated value is always on a similar gun that sold at a different time.
I am not convinced that is a brass frame because the barrel is same color and nobody but nobody ever made a brass barrel revolver, thats a fact. Even brass frames had a steel cylinder (like yours) to contain pressure and a soft brass barrel would be done in 100 rounds.
Most likely plated, not that its a bad thing. I think you need to do more research into exactly what you have before listing it.

Speaking of pressure, i recently read that when a powder charge ignites, at some point in the burn process the temperature for an infinitesimally instant is the same as the surface of the sun. Dont know if that’s gospel.

How would they know?

Very true, just the same as a boat

I’ve got an email into Rock Is. I will keep you informed

Super fast thermometer. Like the kind my mom would give me and say “you aint sick, get yo ass to school!”.
Like the time i said i was sick, she gave me that thermometer and left the room, i held to the bulb in the lamp. When she came back and checked i had a temp of 140 degrees. Ya I went to school that day.
