Any issues I should look for: 370 Sundancer,1995

New to Sea Ray but not boats. Last was a Doral 300SE.

Looking at a 370 Sundancer

I have a surveyor lined up, but before hand, is there any major issues you have experienced with the Hull or transom? Or

any other major issues.

This one is in fresh water, and has gas 310 hp engines I believe ,900 hrs.

The 370 is a great boat but a real gas hog.

Contact Sea Ray and ask if the hull is balsa cored. If it is, the hull needs careful inspection by a licensed and experienced surveyor. The cored hulls can absorb water like a wet sponge and if this occurs the repair is costly & involved. Any used boat should be surveyed.
The 310 hp 7.4's are great engines.

To check for soft spots on the deck take your shoes off and walk the decks. Your feet will find soft areas. Look at the water bottles on the engines if all the same level you might assume that they have had anti freeze added; if empty the engines are probably using anti freeze.

I owned a 1997 370 dancer. Absolutely loved the boat and I still think it has one of the nicest lines and proportions Sea Ray has created. I originally started looking at the 1995 and 1996 but learned they introduced the fuel injection in 1997. Additionally, the interior was upgraded and has a more refined look IMO. I think purchasing 2 years newer cost me about $20k more at that time back in 2001. I felt the additional cost was worth the upgrades. Just something to consider. Also, not an expert, but I think 900 hours for those engines are on the higher side, not high for the age of the boat though... I'm sure there are other boats that have been re powered. It's a matter of pay now or pay later. At the very least have a good thorough engine analysis. Good luck... And congrats on whatever you decide.
